Hello all,
I am a first time Audi owner, loved my A4 until today. I put my foot on the brake and put the transmission into reverse, the dash has no warning messages, the car says it is in reverse. I apply gas and the car does not reverse it is like it is delayed apply more gas, hear a loud thunk and the car shuts off. I place it in park restart the car and it drives forward fine but reverse is not working properly. It will rev up in reverse and not move, i got a message transmission fluid overheating for a second. Soon I was slowly able to put it in reverse and it reversed. Drive is fine.

What is my issue? low transmission fluid?

Also anyone in ventura county? where is a shop that won't kill the wallet?

@Mr. Mugu , welcome to the forum; hope you like it here and can find the help you need. I agree with @Booboo that the very first thing to look at is the service history. It's essential these DSG (S-Tronic - same thing) - assuming that's the type of box yours is fitted with - have the fluid changed no later than every 38,000 miles (less is better - I had mine done at 23,000 but then I'm neurotic).

One thing we probably won't be able to help with, though, is advice on garages local to you. We're a UK-based site and I'm guessing the Ventura County you're referring to is the one in Southern California. But that shouldn't stop you enjoying being a member of the forum; it's always good to hear from owners outside the UK. (Australians are best because we get to talk about them when they're alseep! :) )
