Just had 4 new VREDESTEINS ULTRA SESSANTAS fitted on my quattro!

All i can say is wow! these tyres are brilliant so far, really good grip even in the snow!

When you consider though that the ones i took off were almost bald its not difficult to see why the grip feels so good.

Makes me realise how bad my last tyres were as i was sliding all over the place even at low speeds on slight bends and roundabouts.

Cant wait to try these in the dry.

ive got a pair sat in the garage hoping to get them fitted tomorrow, mines 2wd though so i will let you know how they cope in the snow!
 
hi all

i have these on my S4 in a 19" (245 35R19).

they are brilliant. a great balance and not all that bad in 2 foot of snow!!

I did'nt realise vredesteins specialised in snow tyres.

Thats probably when these are good in the snow and wet eventhough they are summer tyres!
 
I've just put two of these on the front and upto now they're good. Got 2 for £195 off ebay so cheap aswell. Not had chance to use them in dry conditions yet but seem okay in bad conditions
 
had mine fitted today (two on front) and i must say i am well impressed especially with the conditions at the moment and for £185.00 delivered you cant go wrong! just need some dry days now to see how they handle in normal conditions.
 
Yeah they are great, looking forward to a dry summers day to test them properly.

But had all 4 fitted and balanced + tracking for £70.00
 
by the way dazmo, what pressure are you running yours on? at moment with weather mine are at 28psi (they say you get better traction in the snow and ice with lower pressure) but the guy who fitted them said normal pressure should be 32psi, i could be wrong but this seems a bit low to me for the size of the tyre, what you think?

Had my VREDESTEIN ULTRA SESSANTAS delivered today from Camskill.

Have to decide whether to fit them now or wait a few months.

The tyres on my car are all 4mm - but different brands front & back. I know Audi recommend that all 4 wheels are the same brand - but does it reallt matter that much? Will this damage the car?

I have mine at 38 psi mate all round.

My chart thingy says with 3 people in my car and some bags its 40 psi
and with a full car load its 46 psi

so i went with a slightly lower 38 psi and its mainly only me in the car, i think 38 is low for such a heavy car, 32 seems too low to me
 
thanks dazmo thats what i thought, i will increase the pressure when this weather clears a bit.
 
Hi Tim, I am in the same position as you. I have different tyres front and back and I am ordering a set of 4 Sessantas from Camskill, to replace them.

A few people have mentioned that Audi have replaced all tyres when selling a used Quattro with a different set front & rear.

For me the peace of mind is worth the cost of the new tyres, the old ones will be going on eBay as they are quite new.

The Vredestein web site has recommended tyre pressures for most cars and they seem to recommend quite high pressures.
 
yeah just had a look at the vredestein site and for 235/40 zr 18 they are recommending 45 psi! think i,ll go with dazmo and stick to 38 psi, that seems more realistic.

Thats high, audi recommend 46 psi with 4 people and a boot of stuff in the car!
 
Pressures on different models in the Audi range seem to vary massively with no pattern. I would stick to the tyre manufacturers recommended pressures even if they do seem high, after all they are the experts and if you ever have problems with the tyres you have followed their recommendations.
Just my personal opinion.
 
Was really impressed with my ultrac sessantas when i fitted them to my passat, yet to try them on the quattro though

As for tyre pressure, experiment and find what feels right. Above 40 Psi I find there a bit lacking in grip in the wet, but that just my personal experience
 
Normal tyre pressure on 18's is 32psi (check the chassis on the inside of your door)

On quattro's they recommend all 4 tyres are the same make, even the guy at the local humpries quoted that. If fwd it doesn't matter apparently if front and rears are different
 
Nitrouslover - I recommend Andy at Pitstop down Leeds Road if you also live in Huddersfield. He's an independant - tyre change is £15 a corner, but he really looks after your alloys and will give great advise on PSI's.

I'm booked in tomorrow for all 4 changing. Think you're right - just get them all changed.

If Audi recommend Conti's as preferred tyres, then the pressures may well be what is suitable for them.

Vredestein's are a different animal - it's horses for courses (excuse the punn!).

I'm most likely going to run with the recommended 40 psi for my 235/45R17Y94 ultracs - the last thing I want is cracked tyre walls from running them too low.

Let's see what my independant recommends tomorrow when I get mine fitted.

Independant tyre garage recommended that I run them at 34PSI and asked me to come back in 6 weeks to check all is well with them.

On the tyre front - they are absolutely superb, the car feels lighter, more nimble and quieter. Also resolved are some steering wobble and pulling problems I've had in recent weeks - so I'm alsolutely delighted.

I highly recommend them already.

34 psi is abit low when you have a 3.0 v6 tdi lump in the front!

Can anyone let me know if these have any rim protection? The Mrs likes to get tight to the pavement! have Pirelli P Zero Rosso's on at the moment and do appreciate the added protection that these give!

I've had the Ultrac Sessanta's on for about 17k and have been really impressed with them, but they're about shagged now!

If you look at Vredesteins site you'll see they list to run them at 46PSI due to the special structure of the tyre.

I've just ordered 4 Continental Sport Contact 3's for my quattro - partially cos although the Vredestein was a stunning tyre, somehow the tread patten made them look narrow?!?!?!?!?!?
 
So did you always run yours at 46 psi? because thats the recommended full load pressure for me.
 
dont rely on the door stickers, as they change.

mine are 36psi (or 38 cant remember which) but my dads says 34iirc, BUT I have been running my tyres at 37-38psi all round and after about 10k the rears are line new, still got the nobles but the fronts have started to wear on the edges! so I have now upped the pressure to 40 in the rear and 42 in the fronts and swapped the front and rears round. (im on 235 30 18s)

I know it goes off the tyre make and design but I would suggest running the pressures a little higher, the A4 is a big old car 1900kg or so worth of kit and even with a baby engine up front its not light, (I only have a 2.0 tdi)

hi im just about to buy some of these tires. my car is a a3 tdi s line running 225/40/18 , could i go any wider with them and a smaller profile/
