Is there any way of being able to open/unlock the boot on my 09 Avant S Line while the car is running. I find it a bit frustrating that I have to turn the car off when the wife wants to get out :)

Why do you keep your wife in the boot?

I’m not sure if I’m missing something here but...... can you not just press the unlock button on the drivers door? This should unlock all doors (press x2) and be able to do this with out having to turn the engine off. If the auto lock bugs you, you can turn this off on your MMI or disable on carista if your don’t have MMI!

I agree.

Or, in addition to that, is there not a boot/hatch release switch?

All VW Group cars have for a very long time, get delivered to at least UK markets with an "auto lock" option set for the rear hatch/boot, I try to stop my wife getting annoyed when I collect her from shopping in any of our cars - I'd get a bit annoyed as well if I was faced with a locked boot/hatch and having hands full of "stuff"!

Theres a boot release switch bottom drivers door near speaker no ?

This is why I love our power tailgate! See the wife walking to the car with usually bags full of shopping and one press of the button and hey presto the boot is open :D

Am sure my older 2009 a4 had one too . . .

Maybe a option from factory :wtf:

Not sure I've seen one on mine. Gonna have to check now.

I think it was just saloons and Avants with power tailgate that get the boot release on preface lift. Manual tailgate avant won't get the button. Can't beat opening the tailgate with the key button, then pressing again for auto closing
