Head unit swap A4 B7 avant

I currently have this radio head unit in my S line 07 A4 avant 1.9tdi and I am going to document the full swap to a new head unit it’s about time I rented a car for few days with apple connectivity and it was really useful

I have bought a replacement that is more up to date with apps I use for music such as Spotify and also apple car play so I can use my phone satnav but it will be large and on screen plays DVDs CDs and has a reverse camera input plus DAB+ tuner

I chose Sony as they are a reputable brand and tbh i was thinking of a cheaper android unit Chinese made from eBay but I only wanted that because u can download Spotify and satnav apps I can’t see myself playing android games on my head u it or even web browsing I have a smartphone for that
So I decided to stay with Sony I wanted a headunit under £280 and found the
Sony XAV-AX1005DB

So ordered the needed kit and antenna for the dab as well as a reverse camera

It will all arrive by Monday so I plan to go and have it all fitted at Hanford’s for £50 fitting charge

I will upload pics of the finished product and anything that pops up along the way

I just decided to make a journal of the things I do to my car for my self but realise that it may be useful to other people possibly in the future

So it’s half installed haha it’s harder than I thought but the head unit is great have my phone linked up just need to get those rear speakers on and the facia fitted properly then will post an update
