having an issue with one of my rear doors. It no longer unlocks with the rest of the doors and was wandering if anyone has any pointers on what to look at.

It is my back right door and the only way of me opening it is to open it from inside the car to unlock it. Once unlocked from inside it opens and closes freely from outside the car.

Thanks in advance

Had the same issue. Replaced the door latch mechanism.

There is a small plastic switch in it that wears out over time.
Pretty simple to do. Door car off, remove the access panel, replace the latch mechanism.

A few YouTube vids out there on what to do.

Whilst I agree it is probably the door lock module, it is worth checking the wires in the concertina rubber boot in the door hinge for any obvious breaks. Try and pull the rubber back to try to see anything.
If it is the door lock you are lucky it has not totally packed in as sometimes you cannot even open them from the inside. Tricky job then as the door card is in the way.

As above, very probably the door lock & integrated module that is at fault, though it’s worth checking the wires as well, a scan with VCDS should bring up a fault code if it is the lock at fault .
An extremely common problem once these cars get older , I replaced the offside rear lock on my car a few weeks ago.
Simple repair , only took about 30 mins to replace the lock, although you will need VCDS or access to it to ensure the new lock has the same coding as the old one to ensure puddle lights etc ( if fitted) will work with new lock....
If it is the lock at fault you want to replace it whilst you can still release it manually from inside, they get worse with time and it’s a major headache if it fails totally with the door shut, as mentioned above you have to destroy the door card to get the lock off if that happens.....

Thanks for all the replies been a massive help, will look at getting a new latch mechanism

Hold up Jake, check the front & rear rubber door hinge as if its of a certain year, rear doors are controlled via front whereas older they were all seperate, so check for broken wires 1st, then the lock.

Cheers for clarification on that, it’s an older model so should be separate
