So I’ve had my Audi a1 1.6 diesel, ten months now. 2011 plate. Passed its MOT few months back with flying colours. However lately, I’ve noticed it to be kicking out a lot of white smoke, it’s not constant, sometimes it’s fine, sometimes there’s only a little bit and other times it kicks out large amounts. It’s never in specific weather as it has done it in both cold weather and scorching hot, not always when I start the car, sometimes 5 minutes into a journey, sometimes 30 minutes. (Never any warning lights) I had my partner check my oil, he said it was runnng low, so I put a litre straight in, however it hasn’t solved the issue it’s still doing it. More recently however a red warning light will alarm (again random times of journeys) stating engine pressure to low switch off engine, however it never stays on it flashes back off after 5-10 seconds. And sometimes it doesn’t necessarily flash up when the car is smoking. Could anyone give me any advice? Thanks in advance

The usual sign of coolant getting into the engine is excessive white smoke, but you state yours is intermittent. I assume all is OK with the coolant, no loss, no excessive pressure in the vessel?
