Got quoted £200 from Jack Barclay for the service. Anyone else had lower?
What does the inspection entail?
How have they got them so out of sync?? The inspection is after 2 years, my 2nd service and inspection are due:I just had an oil change and after getting suited £300 originally , I managed to get them down to £180 which is still ludicrous
Then when I went to pay he told me I had an inspection service due in 5 months?! He tried quoting me £300 for that as well

I had the following from an Audi dealer earier
The service cost is £479.85, which consists of the oil change and inspection, including pollen filter and spark plugs as this is the closest interval.
Brake fluid cost is £65.00 due at year 3
Haldex cost is £109.00 due at year 3
DSG cost is £225.00 due at 38000 miles
I don't think the Haldex is too far off what indys charge? DSG i have no idea ... but £479 for oil/inspection pollen filter and spark plugs :O
Yup... Ridiculous. Interim for S3 is £195 and major is £375..Without the fixed price servicing that 3 year and older cars get, they just seem to make the prices up
Disgusting though that people who might not haggle or shop around pay so much more for the same service

Yes it is, but remember I'm in the A5, so it may be different. It’s just turned a year old and less than 10,000 miles? Not to sure but it does seem weird
Is that the new my Audi app in the picture? Can’t seem to get mine to display anything from my car

Mine's a baby A3 (1.0 TFSI). 1st service (the first at @18k was £235). The second service will be due in a few months (36K) and its £456 (pollen filter and spark plugs included).........
I thought that spark plugs would last till 60k these days. Does anyone have an actual schedule of what needs doing and when. Not that I don't trust Audi dealers.....
I've seen it as an 'inspection', this is how the Audi stuff I've looked at seems to call it.. but yeah minor would be that too.Sorry for the thread hijack, but can someone confirm that the oil service is also known as a minor service? I booked mine online and the only options were minor service and major service.
Mine is being done this week. £170 for the minor service.
I think Audi do a service (small) and a service + inspection (still small!) and charge a bit more for the second one (both do include an oil change). It doesn't look so bad if you can get a service every 2 years (long life service), so a lot of people will require only 1 service before they change their car (pcp - 3yrs - 36000 miles). It doesn't look that bad until, like me, mileage is slightly higher and then I have to pay for 2 services. The thing is Audi (the same with VW) then add on items NOT under the normal service cost like pollen filter, spark plugs, brake fluid change, that massively hike up the price (particularly annoying when you may think you have everything paid for under a "service plan"). Your quote of £170 seems every reasonable. Is it a fixed one year service or the long-life one that I have had done?Sorry for the thread hijack, but can someone confirm that the oil service is also known as a minor service? Audi are pestering me about brake fluid change as now the car is 3 years old. Ringing me, emailing me etc...what's the easy test to determine if it's needed? Never had it done before.Surely a pollen filter is part of the service schedule when required.....same as spark plugs when required?
Brake fluid change however is not part of any service schedule, but is a recommended additional charge item after a set time period....normally 2 years.
The thing with brake fluid is.....in the majority of cases it will not actually require changing, but people have it done because they feel safer.
There is a very simple test which determines whether there is any need to renew brake fluid, but most dealers will not tell you this....simply saying it is a recommended item that you have done.
What are they asking for brake fluid change? I'd say an independent would do that for under £100.
A brake fluid testing tool is used to measure the moisture content, it only takes about 5 minutes.Audi are pestering me about brake fluid change as now the car is 3 years old. Ringing me, emailing me etc...what's the easy test to determine if it's needed?
Hi all.
Got quoted £338 for an oil and filters service plus inspection service.
Firstly: I think the price quoted is a bit steep. Can you haggle with them?
Secondly: What comprises an inspection service.
Third: Can I service to an independent VAG specialist and still got the history updated?
Thanks,
Dan
L.E. Just looked through Audi's website and it's abit confusing. On my car's dash it says that the car is due an oil change and an inspection service. As they are 2k miles apart I might as well do them at the same time. So, is an inspection service including an oil change as well? I ask because the quote I've got is for both.
You are on fixed annual servicing the same as me. First one as stated in the mmi is an oil change at exactly one year old.....then second one a year later is an Inspection which includes an oil change.I’m confused what I need on my S3 mines coming up to 12,500 miles and is 2 years old in May and it needs and oil change and service in the next 30 days. I got an interim service and oil change last time at 12 months old is it a major I need this time around?
I have no idea what is actually required this time around, every garage I ask is giving me a different answer some say a major is required others don’t?You are on fixed annual servicing the same as me. I don't know what they do at the first Inspection service either, but your car is only 2 years old and on fixed annual servicing so you don't need to worry about what your car needs because the schedule of what is required will be clearly set down by Audi and should not be open to interpretation.I have no idea what is actually required this time around, every garage I ask is giving me a different answer some say a major is required others don’t?
You got that right.....it's like legalised extortion!Audi UK dealers are rip off artists.
The only job well done is a job you've done yourselfYou got that right.....it's like legalised extortion!
To make matters even worse you can never even be confident of having a job well done. There are always exceptions of course...but they are exactly that rather than the rule that they should be.![]()
