Traffic Sign Recognition issue affter MIB2 retrofit

Hi,

I retrofitted a MIB2 High (8v1 035 035) unit into my PFL A3(factory fitted with MIB1 High, TSR, ACC with dome radar, Lane Assist,) , all works fine except some issue with Traffic Sign Recognition. Shortly after engine startup I get "Traffic Sign Recognition: Currently Restricted"-with the MIB1 unit I rarely seen that message-, but sign recognition appears to still work and I get posted speed limits on my instrument cluster. This is why I assume it's an issue with VZO setings.
I also get this error on module A5, it reappears as soon as I clear it :

If I disable TSR from A5 coding, the error is gone. On module 5F: I tried disabling/enabling VZO, different settings for Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-traffic_sign_recognition_0x21_msg_bus, but no luck getting rid of that error.

I noticed that the A5 controller has a coding byte for MIB1/MIB2, but my unit doesn't accept changing the coding to any of the MIB2 settings(I tried with Ignition On/Engine Off).

To get rid of that error, do I need to update the A5 firmware or is just some coding/adaptation issue? I noticed there's a 5Q0980653G H06 0060(mine's 5Q0980653E H05 0050) firmware available. Can I use this firmware on my module? Can this update affect ACC or any other front assist system? I know that I need to use VCP to parameterize the module afterwards. Calibration settings I assume I can just import my current calibration settings.

@DJAlix Is the the same issue we had with my front facing camera when we added TJA ? Also what is MIB2 High with Predictive Route Data ?
 
Indeed, the error is related to "Predictive Route Data"(aka PSD:Prädiktive Streckendaten), the error on A5 module is "Databus missing message: PSD_01_TO_FAILURE". I tried to disable PSD from 5F coding byte24bit7, tried PSD1.4/1.5 in 5F adaptations. But the error persists.

Any idea what is needed so I can be able to change the coding on the A5 module from MIB1 High to MIB2 High with PSD 1.4/1.5? Re-parameterization of the unit? Firmware upgrade + parametrization?
 
Sorry, I just noticed you had already checked the Car_Function_List_BAP_Gen2-traffic_sign_recognition_0x21_msg_bus. I had wondered if there was an option to select the can bus like when retro fitting active TPMS.

I thought of another thing... Could my CAN gateway be the issue? As in, it is an older version pre-MIB2 and that's why it doesn't accept my A5 coding for MIB2.

Can I update it to a new version? Does AJ work on my gateway? What does a can gateway firmware update involves? Does it need re-parameterization afterwards? Does it lose the current adaptations?
 
You can update the front camera with Odis-E, your calibration settings won't be lost. Just reparametrise A5 with VCP. Don't forget to check "erase all memory".

Thanks for the info! I will order a VCP cable after the next paycheck and give that a try.

Is it safe to update the Gateway, too? Would AJ work on my gateway? Does the gateway need parameterization?
 
No need to update the gateway.

Just update the front camera (takes around 28min) and then parametrise it with VCP (couple of minutes) and then clear all errors with VCP or VCDS.

@jrumball do you still have errors after adding TJA?

No though I've noticed seems to all work as expected though I have never personally driven another can with it factory spec.....

Which software index is your camera? The H version is a little improvement compared to the previous ones.

I finally got my VCP cable.

I updated the the front camera firmware from 5Q0 980 653E to 5Q0 980 653G(it took over 1h with VCP)+paramater file... this allowed me to use the MIB2 wih Predictive Data coding, but the error still persisted after that. I then updated the CAN Gateway firmware from 5q0 907 530M to 5q0 907 530AJ and that got rid of the error.

Restart the infotainment by keeping the power button pressed for 10 seconds.


but it works in this way, that FUSION mode should merge picture from camera + data from gps. So it detects traffic sign properly, shows on display but when validity of sign expires (end of town, cross the crossroad etc.) captured sign symbol from camera perstists until next camera captured symbol will be detected... so it doesnt cooperate with GPS.
Also "TSR is restricted" message appears after a while of driving... common failure for aftermarket activated TSR.
I have ECE maps, and am from Slovakia - is is somehow restricted ?

update:
I activate PSD in 5F MMI unit byte27.bit7 , then goes to A5 Camera byte 7 (Navigation type) and want to change to value 8 which stands for Mib2High - PSD 1.5 but coding was not accepted - out of range...probably new software needed ?
