Hi All.
I'm new to the forum, and am hopeful that I could get some advice from some of the experience users of this group.
I'm sure a thread like this may already exist, but after looking around I couldn't find the support I needed.
We recently purchased an Audi A6 Avant C6 Chassis 2008 Le Mans 2.7 TDI Quattro S Line.
My spec of vehicle has come with Audible Sensors to the rear only, and an Audi MMI 2G High model system.
The sat nav doesn't work as the DVD wasn't provided, and the radio is unusable due to an error which points towards the cables.
I have a friend who does ECU tuning and remapping services, and after checking all fault codes, the radio was identified as an issue.
Both myself and my wife have discussed retrofitting a 3G or 3G+ MMI to gain the better satnav features, visual and audible sensors, rear camera and the Bluetooth streaming.
When looking at the cost I was shocked to see Genuine audi replacement would be well over £2000 for the MMI system, however came across some youtube videos of an 10.25inch Android tablet, being mounted in place of the internal screen. The tablet has a mounting plate which includes the buttons that would otherwise be hidden (glove box release, mileage 0,0 etc) There seems to be videos of people fitting these to the 2G systems (high options only) however I don't seem to be able to find enough information on ebay about these tablets to warrant the spend. Im after some evidence to prove it will fit my model of vehicle and MMI. This would allow me to use Google Maps, and map the camera (which is included with the tablet) and hopefully get operational sensors too.
The specification states you need Aux out on the car, and if I buy the AMI to Aux lead, my friend can map this option into the car and enable the lead, so no issues here.
Im just hoping someone has either seen or done this previously, and could point me in the right direction as opposed to buying product blindly.
Your help and advice, and pictures are appreciated.
Thanks
Dan
