Hello everyone. I've been looking for a good spec FL A3 for a while. It's not easy to find one in Denmark because most cars are sold in SE trim due high import tax. Today, a 2017 A3 1.4 TFSI S-tronic that ticks most of my check boxes appeared for sale. Among mods, it has a S3 exhaust with quad tips. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to fit an exhaust developed for a more powerful engine to a less powerful one. Would it have any negative effect on the engine reliability or anything else that I can't even think about?

If it’s just the back box then it will be fine. End of the day the exhaust is a bit of pipe with silencers so won’t do that much or make much different. Will just be noisier than the standard 1.4 exhaust.
Being a 2017 car I would make sure these mods haven’t affected the warranty in anyway as if something goes wrong audi could decline your claim even if its using genuine Audi parts from another car.

Yes, it was just the back box. That car was sold anyway, however I ordered a new one with 1.5 TFSI S-line engine. I don't like the S-line diffuser, so I'm going to swap it with the one of the S3 and I'll need a muffler with tailpipes on both sides and a pre-owned S3 muffler would be the most cost effective solution.

Speaking on the warranty, what can go wrong with a car if I replaced a back box? Or do you mean they can use it as an excuse if anything goes wrong with the engine?

They will use any excuse not to pay out.
Not sure if it’s gonna be easy fitting a second hand one either. The diameter of the exhaust will probably be different between the 1.5 and 2.0 and now the new car will have the gpf as well to complicate matters even more.
