Car - A3 S line 1.4 TFSI 50,000k 2103.
Hi all,

I have been having a strange issue where the A3 will be driving absolutely fine, then under no replicate circumstances it will feel like it loses power, jolt slightly, and continue to run. It happens in bursts, after one case, usually a few more jolts will happen, then the EPC light will turn on. Then my S/S will not function and the engine may cut out while idling.

Then leave it overnight, no light, no jolting, no issues with acceleration??

The only OBD code I have is P2293 (Fuel Pressure Regulator 2 Performance) When we checked the fuel pressure being delivered it was bang on?

I have attached a diagnostic report done by my mechanic over 6 months ago when the issue first occurred. All we did then was a hard 'reset' on the systems electronics and it went away for 6 months?

I've read reports about air filters, PVC valves, spark plugs, ignition coils fuel pumps etc. My question is why did it go away for 6 months if there was a problem with one of these components that were never changed?

Any help is appreciated as I am very new to this kind of thing :)

You might want to PM @Sandra ( admin) and ask here to pop this into the Vcd's section where it might get better advice as you have inadvertently placed it in the wrong section .

The Vcds log just supliments his query, it isn't his main question.

This post is fine where it is

So some of this might sound a bit mad but I'm just giving you stuff to investigate.

First off, your 6 months going away issue is weird I agree but I'm going to ignore it for the time being, random resets with generic ODB tools etc are always a bit weird and if its a fuel delivery issue it can be exacerbated by the weather, battery etc. (Your battery might be not quite up to running everything as well lights now its dark, heater, seats whatever else for example)

You need to check your plugs, see if they're black, Is the exhaust producing excessively black smoke/soot? Has your MPG dropped on the floor or anything like that?
Have you done some basics like fuel filter checks etc and hows your battery? I think for ease of checking home you should start at battery, then go plugs, coils, filter then the reg and possibly injectors. These are all going up in price/complexity as we go.
