Hoping someone can resolve a dispute between my partner and I!

We have a manual S3 64 plate, we've owned it since new.

I've always found that changing gear needs a firm hand especially for sixth gear which is a long way over. I have always taken it as that's just how it drives and have never struggled. My parter however at times struggles with getting the car into sixth gear and thinks this indicates there is potential problem. Just to note it doesn't grind or make any noise.

Does anyone know of any issues around the manual S3 gearboxes? Or does anyone's have a manual S3 who can comment on what the gear changing is like?

Thanks!

I think it sounds fine, mines "firm" and as you say needs a bit of effort to get across to 6th but even with a short shifter fitted it's not a problem.

I've never had any such issues with mine. If the gear isn't selecting, then there may be an issue.

Best to take it to Audi or a specialist for a quick check. If there is an issue, get it attended to early.

Mine's a bit grumpy about going into 5th occasionally. This has only ever happened when driving sedately. I have to release and press clutch again then it goes in fine. weird.

Thanks all, we’ve had a mechanic look at it. They were happy all is as it should be, so my partner just needs to be a bit firmer!!

Some would say they would prefer their partner to be a bit firmer with the stick :whistle2:

No problems with 5th or 6th. Did have an issue with reverse and first with a slightly notchy 2nd when cold. An audi adjustment and it's cured reverse and first and sorted 80% of the notchy 2nd. Worth a trip to the main dealer.

Mines spot on but I’ve had a forge quick shifter on for some time now and it was a massive improvement.
