Hey everyone! I am looking for a set of all-season tires for my 2012 Audi Q5. Is anyone here familiar with Toyo Tires' Versado CUV? A friend told me about it. Any other suggestions?

Michelin Crossclimate very highly rated

I have a Tiguan sport and I do not get winter tyres as if it's that bad I would need them I don't go out and as the car is a 4x4 I don't need them (hopefully).

They is a well known theory, 2 wheel drive with winter tyres much better than 4x4 without. Once temp drops below 7deg, winter tyres come into their own, not just for snow which is common misconception. I had a 2 wheel drive A6 avant last winter with winter tyres, didn’t skip a beat, and never saw traction control light come on. This year I have 4x4 Q5 and have my winter alloys ready and tyres in the way. Will swap over probably end Oct and change back end March

I'm driving to the Alps in January where they are compulsory. Still looking for a deal and considering cheaper steel wheels with decent winter tyres.

With respect, the 4x4 drive will offer zero assistance when braking and/or steering on snow and ice whilst wearing summer tyres. It's these darn pinching-sipes in an M+S winter type tyre tread that'll do that:

Sipesx

Nothing sticks to snow like snow so a tyre that holds snow is much better than one that doesn't - I think it was Stig Blomqvist who said that.

Winters for me on an RS3:

I do get that winter tyres are better but for all the miles I do daily (about 2 ) I don't think its worth the expense. Just my thought though.

Dan, have you looked at ideal Reifen (they have a website and eBay shop)? I got 18”s for my Q5 for under £400 delivered. If I went 19”s would have been up nearer £1k. Worth finding some you like and make an offer as I did. Wheels arrived in about 3-4 days and look perfect

I've used winter tyres with OEM for years, each and every car; it's my first 'extra' purchase. And I always sell 'em on when changing the car. The area I live in is very hilly and gathers snow straight form Wales - and as we need to get to the hospital (15-miles away) 3-times each week, all year round, then winter rubber is a no choice option.

With your 2-mile journey Shanks's pony would be the better option.
