No it is the name of the systems generation. Can be sd card based or harddrive based. Both MIB1.

Oh okay, I see, how would I know which system I have in my 8V?

if you go into the setup and check the software version.
if it starts with MSTD then its the standard system with SD card maps
if it starts with MHIG then its the high version with maps on internal harddrive.

If it's got the tech pack and the larger touch screen I'm guessing that means it's the high version?
