I bought my audi a4 1.8t 2010 6 weeks ago and conveniently it broke down on the motorway over the weekend, called out the AA and it was an ignition coil that had gone, I had it repaired on the roadride but noticed that the diagnostics port was not getting any power at all, he checked the fuses and fuse 7 blows instantly when he puts the 5A fuse in. He said it could be that there is a short somewhere in the wiring. Has anyone had this problem before and what is the easiest way to resolve this problem? What is the easiest way to find out exactly where the problem is and how to fix it. The 10A fuse to diagnostics terminal 30 is working, It is the terminal 15 one that blows instantly.

Hi, Looked at the wiring diagram and that fuse feeds only that socket. The wire goes directly from the fuse box to the OBD socket. I would take the trim panel off under the steering wheel where the OBD socket is mounted and have a look at the wiring on the back of the socket.
There is a chance somebody has been messing there.

Thank you! I did managed to have a look and it appears they have used masking tape (believe it or not) and taped up loads of wires together, when I get the chance I will fix the problem! Thanks for the help!
