Hello All,

I need to replace the battery on my MY61 S3, without Start/Stop. Reading through the forum the Varta E44 Silver Dynamic (77AH - 780 CCA) is highly recommended. It's a 096 battery which the S3 requires.

The car is taking longer to crank over but I also have a VCDS 00907 - Intervention Load Management error. I know the weather won't be helping but I suspect the Dash-Cam (in parking mode) may be contributing to this too.

The existing battery is the original so I'll look to replace.

From all the threads, what I can't decipher is whether I need to code the new battery via VDCS or if it's fit & forget. Any help on if it requires coding and how to code would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Sam

It's just plug and play with a new battery. You'll get some lights on the dash when you start it back up but just take the car down the street and back and they'll all go off

Check gateway installation list for address 61 or when you fitted you would have seen a cover on the negative terminal and the management system if neither exists fit and forget.

think you only need to code it if it has start/stop - my 09 A3 doesn't have stop/start and changed it for a varta E44 without any coding required, cranks like a beast now :D

Similar 096 5 year batteries also worth a look .

Yuasa 760 CCA , 80Ah

Bosch S5 , 780 CCA , 77Ah .

The S5 Bosch battery is exactly the same as the Varta silver dynamic. Varta make all Bosch batteries .
The difference is Bosch batteries always tend to cost more than the Varta equivalent.

spot the difference, yes they have different labels.

I have the Bosch S5 on 2 cars and it is very good. Got them on a good deal at the time.
The Varta equivalent will be equally as good.

The ONLY thing different about those batteries is the label (and possibly the price).

I have the Varta in mine

I heard a while back Varta were being bought over, is this a change since this happened or have they always been the same?

Fitted the Varta Silver Dunamic today - so far it’s all good! The TMPS, ABS and steering angle sensors were throwing an error for a couple of hours but they’ve settled down now. After a VCDS scan there isn’t any errors so I’m happy.

Thanks for all the help above.
