Lowering or Wheel Spacers or both?

Can you even notice if not up close? Can you take a photo?

It’s really not as bad as you’d think, it’s in the photos I posted so hasn’t popped out to you enough to see it as a problem.
I just thought it’s typical other colour options were made apparent after I’d ordered, wish I had checked now.

See the below photo for the black spacer.

My discs are being painted and I’m not sure what colour to go with. My detailer said black, but I don’t think there is any chance of that.. wayyy too dark. I think the real question is whether to go for high gloss silver or matt silver like OEM. Gloss silver looks brilliant on my S3, but with the matt finish on the RS alloys I think it might look a bit silly. See the second attached photo of the S3 discs, when high gloss.

Starting to fall for the RS now, it’s taken longer than I thought but I blame winter haha. Roll on the summer months. Getting it back in the garage shining under the lights as clean as I got it out, put a smile on my face.

What size spacers did you have on the S3 AN ??

Right... the company supplying me have been fantastic and managed to track down some 8mm H&R spacers, which they will do a straight swap on with no difference to pay.. over the moon. Waiting on specifics of the design to see if they are wheel centric, I don’t want to open a can of worms with vibration.

They asked if anybody on here would be interested in these? Because if so they will order them in ready as a stock item, but I wasn’t sure if many wanted 8mm?

Negative on the lowering springs front. My Audi dealer said that replacing the springs will void the suspension entirely, hoping to get some more info on this. After endless steering rack problems on my S3 I’m not keen to void my drivetrain warranty, if it was just shocks then fine I can take the hit but anything after is ridiculous. Looks like I will be staying up in the clouds.... :(

Yep springs are defo always gonna have that affect on the suspension warranty, could imagine anything different.

Could be interested in those 8mm's for my fronts.
What price they charging? Are they hub centric? And do they come with corresponding length bolts? And lastly are they available with a locking bolt of similar correct length??

The company you linked me into.

I’m waiting for exact specifications but I’ve been led to believe they are hubcentric, but seems too good to be true at this stage haha... I won’t have them if they aren’t.

I have two unused 12mm Bimecc spacers, they said if I send those back they will do a direct swap with no extra charge, they said the H&R 8mm are normally slightly more, I think I am getting a free swap because they mentioned me testing for correct fit before they order them in. They will also swap me 10 of the correct length bolts for the 8mm spacer, they have the right length locking bolts for the 8mm too.

If they are the right type being hubcentric etc, I will get the rest of the details tomorrow regarding price.

You won’t have a problem selling the 12mm fronts you take off on here. Out of curiosity, are yours silver or black?

Mine a 12mm black with black bolts and one locker with each spacer.

So are you buying direct from Bimecc or the tuning house I mentioned EMP.
Seems strange Bimecc would sell H R spacers.....?

Nope I’m looking at the company CM Wheels.

They have confirmed the 8mm spacers are hubcentric. They have sent the following price lists which should help the majority of us here.

Please let me know if anybody is likely to be interested in the H&R 8mm spacers, so they can prepare.

Their response below.......

“Prices for forum members are as follows:

H&R packages:

2 x 8mm H&R spacers with 10 x Bolts - £80.00 delivered
2 x 8mm H&R spacers with 8 x bolts & 1 x lock set - £87.00 delivered
4 x 8mm H&R spacers with 20 x bolts - £140.00 delivered
4 x 8mm H&R spacers with 16 x bolts & 1 lock set - £145 delivered

Combination packages of H&R / Bimecc spacers:

2 x 8mm H&R spacers + 2 x Bimecc spacers (available in 12mm, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm) with 20 x bolts - £130.00 delivered
2 x 8mm H&R spacers + 2 x Bimecc spacers with 16 x bolts & 1 x lock set - £135 delivered.

The combination package prices are based on silver spacers, the black Bimecc spacers are slightly more expensive than the silver ones.

Bolts & lock bolts are available in either silver or black.”

No problem both :D

The company are fab, can’t ask for any better will never hesitate to deal with them again.

Wait and see my photos if you want @teslaboy I will be returning my old spacers tomorrow and will hopefully have the new ones for early next week. Now my car is up in the air Monday to Wednesday with the discs off, but Wednesday I should have some good photos of it.

The 12mm spacers were just a tad too much for me, there was too much tyre exposure as the wing slopes down to the sill. I think 8mm will look much neater, the front matches up pretty well with the rear as is anyway.

Make sure all you guys order from CM Wheels. I don’t get anything out of it but I’ve been able to get us forum discount and the Bimecc spacers are extremely good value and top quality, they are so nice to the touch. Use this email address below rather than order online and claim your Audi-Sport.net discount by just telling them where you are from.

Customer service is incredible.

Do you know what the spacer sizes are on the H&R car?

I’ve heard back from our resident Audi Tech and apparently springs could void all aspects of drivetrain warranty.. WTF.

Audi could claim excess vibration from the aftermarket springs puts extra strain on driveshafts and even as far as gearboxes. Is it really worth it... I’m gutted as it was very much my plan to go for it.

I’m so careful because of the previous issues I’ve had. My S3 spent 7 weeks or so sat in Audi in just under a year of ownership, if I lower the RS3 I’d have to pay for all of that.

Just spacers for me as I want to keep the warranty

The odds of something failing I’m going to guess are pretty low... but as you say mate, is it worth it... for me, no!

I’ll be fitting spacers to improve the stance, but that’s where I’ll stop I recon

I would never like to say these cars should be trouble free, I’ve had more than enough issues with these cars :(

S3 had a new steering rack, 3000 miles later had a new wheel hub due to knocking that was probably caused by the bad rack, 5000 miles later the steering rack went again. The car was sold with a clunking steering rack because Audi refused to admit it was a problem.

A replaced steering rack just indicates the quality of the driver I think... showing they’re top quality...

...because I had my Focus RS’s replaced under warranty after about 5000 miles too :tearsofjoy:

I’ve got two 12mm Black Bimecc Spacers available for sale. They will come with 8x 40mm bolts and a set of 4x 40mm locking wheel bolts.

I bought the silver to match the disc bell on my car. Usually with forum discount this set would cost around £75 I believe with the black being slightly more (I bought as a set of 4), I will let them go for £55 delivered. They have only been on the car a week.

@AudiNutta I’m guessing these are your second pair and you’ve still got the others fitted to the rear? With no issues so far?

My second pair have gone back and been exchanged for 8’s, which are due early this week.

I removed these in question from the rear today, only because I’ve ordered the silver ones instead. No issues at all, still very happy. Silver ones are due tomorrow. My mate was supposed to be having the black ones but let me down today, reason why they are off.... knob :lmfao:

Drama queen alert! In a court of law I would love to see Audi claim that some lower springs would cause a head gasket to go or whatever else!

Anyway, you can at least change the springs back that would be untraceable.

Not head gasket but a gearbox yes. Anyway I wouldn’t like to take a company as big as Audi to court.

Too late if Audi have already seen the car for servicing, recorded one of their health check videos. I don’t fancy paying £800 everytime Audi see my car to remove and then refit springs, proving to be £400 a swap.

Regardless, you could remove the springs for a big warranty claim. And I'm adamant they couldn't refuse a drivetrain claim because of some aftermarket springs.

Size of a company has nothing to do with taking a company to court.

I wouldn’t fancy folking out the bill to go to court against them in the first place... if the cars older than 6 months it’s down to the owner to provide all the evidence that the mod hasn’t created the problems that occur

That said... it should be common sense for a dealer to say either yes that part will effect x and not y etc

The Ford dealer I used for the many mods on my old car were perfect with this... unless it was the exactly modded part that failed then they were happy to help, and even if it was the modded part... they’d help where they could and push it with Ford as far as they could

But they would have still been on there and the dealer would have seen them, so it’s too late.

haha yea I doubt I’ll find another dealer like that... the head service guy was right into cars and modding so that always helps... it was a 2 hour trip to get there but worth it for the service

Saying that... there isn’t much near me so it’s an hours trip to my nearest Audi dealer ha

I’d travel for a dealer like that, 110%. All my locals seem to dislike me, I won’t get any favours.

Did you ever try and find other caps or you keeping with the Velcro solution? As is it Hex caps you ideally need? Trying to find a set before they go on. Thanks

Velcro solution is staying, it works.

Hex caps won’t fit on the lockers they supply as they are round, just a smaller diameter.
