Hi all

Sadly I find myself in a position where posting this is my only option of any kind of satisfactory solution although if I'm honest it seems it will still be a long shot. It is also in the hope of preventing anyone else being duped out of money on the pretense of goods or services from Chris Pruteanu (adamss24).

The back story is, last year I posted in the tuning thread looking for advice on tuning the BDG 2.5 v6 tdi engine and Chris replied to the thread offering his services. After some discussion over pm he requested a £500 deposit bank transferred over to his account so that he could begin working assembling a turbo upgrade package. I agreed to this (my BIG mistake) based on the fact that he seems to have had a very good reputation on this and most other community forums.

This was back in April and I have given it till now to see if he would come through with the kit or at least get in touch to offer a refund or explain what had happened but despite him still posting on Facebook and regularly using Whatsapp he has ignored my attempts to contact him by pm, email, Whatsapp, Facebook messenger and telephone.

So, my only chance of recourse is to go down the legal route and onto the purpose of this thread.

I am looking for anyone who can supply any contact information for Chris that I can pass on to the police and include in any paperwork required by the small claims court. If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated as although it's not a vast sum of money, the biggest issue for me is the fact that he has conducted himself like a common thief and capitalised on the trust gained on a number of community forums.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide with this.

Carl

Thanks Martin, that's the same number I have for him and it's been dead a while

From my experiance he's not the kind of bloke to mess people about and I also commented on a very similar post to this regarding him in the rants and raves section. He's done allot of good jobs for a fair few members here (myself included) and I suspect he's either very tied up at the moment or something bad has happened, he hasn't been on this forum for about a year far as I know, might be worth trying other forums maybe if you don't have any luck as he's on a couple VAG and diesel performance ones.

That's bizarre as usually very good, but its poor show tbh if its been that long, he really needs to contact you before it gets out of hand.

It's a real shame that it's gotten this far, I am friends with him on Facebook and it looks like he's decided to stay back in Romania as he's been there since early on in the year. I have held out this long just in case there were some health issues or similar in the hope that things would come right but he's now ignoring every attempt at communication and has been for the past 2 to 2 and half months and posts appearing on Facebook that make it clear he's still well.

It seems he's also gone to ground on all the other forums he's on too, sad, as he seemed to be the go to guy on all things v6 2.5tdi. It's the good reputation he had in the community that made me think I could trust him enough to pay by bank transfer.....

This reminds me of Siena, iirc the username, he did something similar & was well known respected.

Something similar happened to someone on ukpassats as well. Had you used PayPal and marked payment for services you would have got your money back no problem, never ever use bank transfer for someone you don't really know or haven't met or even if you have, why would they refuse payment by PayPal if the were straight up with you.

Once bitten and all that, I am usually a pretty good judge of character and given the general consensus, I thought he could be trusted.

As you say, I wouldn't normally send money by any other means than Paypal because of the protection they offer. The only issue is the charge they put on to process payments, in hindsight it would have been money well spent but for the sake of £500, I didn't think he'd be willing to ruin his reputation as forums seemed to generate a fair amount of work for him.....you live and learn

Sorry to hear this. Like you, Im one to think he's a trustworthy guy based on his advice and interaction with members over the years!

Sad to see it turn out this way.
