Hi, I am looking for some guidance on a situation I am having with my A3 2.0 TDI with the BKD engine. The Turbo on my car went, which resulted in a broken turbo shaft and a loss of oil, and a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I have since changed the Turbo but after taking the car for a spin I still had loads of white smoke! I did some research and found out that this could be from residual oil in the exhaust and intercooler. I ran some tests, first by taking the downpipe off the turbo and running the engine, still loads of smoke, I then removed the Turbo pipe leading into the intake manifold and ran the engine, very very little smoke! It was running alright and responder very well to revving. I have since removed my intercooler and washed it out with petrol, about 3/4 of a mug full came out of it. I am about to reassemble everything but just wanted to see if anyone had a similar problem. Thanks in advance.

In summary:
New turbo loads of smoke with exhaust connected and disconnected, no smoke with turbo pipe removed from intake.

If your turbo blown mate. You will have loads of exsess oil in the exhaust. So either a good long run to get it warm and burnt off / or take exhaust off and wash it out some how or replace. I had similar problems. But I've just kept running mine and it's got better over 2k miles. But decided am going to upgrade it as it's always dripping out of the end
