UK group buy for MethodEffects 8V FL front splitter

Couple weeks late, its been ordered and shipped to the UK. If you still want one you have to order this yourself directly with the company. Expect some serious courier cost!
Might be wrong, and can't be bothered searching lol - but did @seanbeckerleg not get 1 or 2 spare he said to sell on?

Collected mine yesterday, Thanks again Sean!

I know these are pretty easy to install but should there not be some instructions in the box?

We host a downloadable instruction guide on the product page. Similar to ECS and other similar sites.

As it should be, our product is listed under the Store page. :) Unless there's an issue with the website and accessing the product?

Just seems a bit strange to have key information like this, and a great video, available only once a user has clicked through to the store page.

Am installing mine on Wednesday and will post up some photos etc, but for the moment I have to say its a great bit of kit. Packaging is great, protection layer is REALLY great and its way lighter than I thought it would be but remains very very strong. Very impressed and to be honest, even though its more expensive for us Brits, its worth every penny! :)

Same for me on that note Andrew.... having clear easy to install Instruction could even push people to buy as they could make the decision as to wether they think it's possible to do at home on there drive way, or have a body shop fit it, which could put them off buying due to even higher expense.

This is an amazing product by the looks and sounds of things, but I couldn't possibly justify the cost of buying it alone, and even in the group buy it was quite expensive for me.

Well considering $399 is extremely fair of a price in the US where we are located, we can see how the shipping to other countries makes the product seem rather expensive. :)

It's a shame about the imports. However... are you able to reveal any info on other products for the S3 FL you 'may' be working on? For your 'ahem' loyal followers lol

Considering we had an entire 4 way scan of the entire vehicle, options are pretty vast. From trunk spoiler to side skirt extensions, maybe rear bumper extensions, the possibilities are endless.

What do you guys wanna see?

Saw a diffuser they are working on on their Insta but that was a little while ago and no updates since. I'd definitely be up for that.

Diffuser, maybe an arch kit that somehow doesn't need bolted on to the original bodywork with a variety of flare options? SS-Tuning for Ford offers an arch kit and it really is tremendous.

That actually does look pretty mean. Definitely will consider. The diffuser is ready we just need a proper way to make the part without sacrificing quality. It's been up for discussion, but we are focused on getting models started and then tagging product onto them post launch.

Can't wait to see your Diffuser prototypes. Couldn't help but feel the OEM one lacked a bit of aggression.

@MethodEffects Also, US style grills for UK customers without the plate holder/possible RS3 style grill too at a fraction of the cost of OEM?

That requires an entirely different manufacturing process than what we currently do, we don't plan on making them but maybe selling them if they come around.

Well, the diffuser is a must, but will it also fit the sport-back model? I'd also like to see a spoiler extension lip for the sport-back... maybe some skirt trims like the GTI club-sport has? Here: https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&r...aw2fLicffyZ6s7Qo0PMy0y6t&ust=1507243575236605

That and a rear defuser for me! Same base line....subtle & aggressive.
Can't help but think the car is now not complete with the front splitter alone lol!

So finally got around to fitting my splitter. Excuse the dirty car, one day I will get time to wash, detail and seal it :(

As already posted is a pretty simple process, just need to take your time and plan your install. Everyone here seems to be installing on S3's so I thought I would post up a few findings as my car is a 2.0TFSI Quattro:

VW Group classes the UK as a cold weather country so all our A3/S3 cars get "full size" under tray, meaning that we Brits need to remove said under tray in order to fit the securing bolts for the splitter. Hot weather countries like the USA get a tray thats reduced in size and which you can reach behind in order to complete the install.

Once the splitter was stuck to the car I proceeded to drill out the x4 bolt holes and then made x6 pilot holes for the securing of the front section (marked in yellow). The engine bay of the 2.0TFSI is laid out differently to that of the S3 and of the four bolt holes, 3 of them had wires running very close to their locations and one (marked on diagram in blue) is directly below the washer bottle... so be careful with all of them!

The bolt hole, marked in green, has some pretty chunky plastic behind it and its not possible to use x2 washers when securing else the nut cannot be tightened on to the bolt thread. For this one I used a washer on the outside only.

For anyone thats interested the yellow marks are where I installed the supplied securing screws. The Red marks are the factory bolt holes.

Over all its a nice bit of kit. Very well made and very light. Roll on the next parts from @MethodEffects
