I hope someone can help me out. I'm in the process of getting an Audi approved car from one of the dealerships in the UK. Since the car will be exported straight away to an other country in Europe, will the warranty still be valid and honored by the local dealer? The car I'm getting has around 18 months left of warranty at the time of writing.

I don't understand why you don't just ring your dealer and ask. You can't go wrong that way

Volkswagens are covered by warranty outside of the UK for 2 years. So in theory you should have a 6 months warranty cover. But you have to pay for the work and then claim it back through Audi UK, they usually don't pay the full price. Reason being, you pay the retail rate, Audi UK will probably only reimburse the warranty rate. I don't really deal with warranty much, usually all lease customers I deal with but I believe that's how VW do it and Audi is the same warranty process. Literally have the call centre in the same rooms.

Hope this helps, but ring the dealer..

I exported my new S3 from the UK in 2014 (no VAT & registered on an export plate) having paid for the warranty extension to 5years.
The warranty is valid across all Europe and no contact needed with UK for any claims, I guess it depends on whether it is the manufacturers or dealers warranty? Ironically where I am the Audi warranty is usually only for 2years.
If in the EU you won't pay VAT but you might be liable for emissions taxes depending on the local regulations.

Most comments and info you find from people on here will be regarding the ability to take the car out of the uk for holidays etc so really best to ring the dealer. i know my 1yr extended warranty only covers me for trips abroad i think up to 60 days, could be 30! Think the above reply of first 2 years being full Europe and then 3rd year UK is correct, as is the claims procedure if needed when away from UK. Personally, I think your in for a hard time, I doubt they will give you anything, but worth a try.

What country are you exporting to? I know lots of countries have extra VAT duties added on when importing a car so good luck.are you doing it by yourself or dealer helping?

Why can't you find this car in your country? It's a hell of a lot of fuss for a car when you already live in an opposite country.

Post-Brexit pound makes it attractive maybe? Cars here in Continental Europe are hellishly expensive too. I know my car here in Portugal, same year & spec is around 24,000 euros. Uk price is maybe £10-£12k. If you keep going to & from Europe then RHD isn't a problem. I know lots of people who export their cars and its usually down to the price. Imagine you have a budget of 22k for a local A3 like mine, 3yrs old etc.... that 22k in euros is now £21k whereas Pre-Brexit it would have been £17k (based on 1.4 conversion rate which is what it was pre-brexit & todays of 1.10). Based on that & if i had a lump sump of Euros then i could get a car that is worth £4k more than what i could have pre-brexit. If your British and living abroad then your Euros go along way now compared to before. Its certainly made me think about where i buy my next car or if i should trade mine in for a LHD car.

That's it I'm in Malta. Why get a car from the UK... well a pre reg car is currently over 14,000 euros cheaper than new in the trim I want, plus considering the STG/Euro exchange rate it makes purchases in the UK more attractive. In Just 1 month the projected cost for the car has gone down by around 800 Euros just because of the exchange rate. Will pop at the dealership but I wont be really welcome.

Currency makes a huge difference.
At the time of buying mine 3yrs back it cost £29k from Audi Watford, last month it was valued at 29keuro which at the moment is approx £25k :)

Bottom line, check with the dealer BUT get anything in writing as I am not sure the salesperson will necessarily known the details.

Is it for 2 or 3 years worldwide?

But the base price for an S3 where I am is now approx £44k..............the UK has a competitive car market all of its own within Europe.
When the fx is right, plenty of money to be made buying a new LHD from Audi UK and exporting it, speaking to Audi Watford plenty of people do and unless you go mad the authorities don't really care.

In the country where I live, we don't have to pay for extended warranty as dealers always give that as free option due to so many Hyundais and Kias around with their amazing warranty periods. The warranty is valid across the Europe (I had to check this as I am moving to Germany).

At Volkswagen for cars coming from Europe to the UK they are covered so long as they are under 2 years old, unlimited mileage. Third year not covered. But we can never find any details for the vehicles so we have to charge for any work done and the customer is on their own to claim it back from Volkswagen from their own country.

That being said we stay away as best as we can because they only cause trouble :)

Local as in Malta? did you ask the obvious question that you were importing a 2nd hand UK car & wasn't regarding a warranty for a car from Malta? very surprised by this as it goes against anything in writing in Audi brochures regarding warranties but then i guess these are issued in the UK and apply just to the UK & when we are abroad in our UK registered cars. I might pop to Audi here in Lisbon and ask about it as i think they get 5yrs here as standard. If the rules change when we basically put on local plates then it might be worth it.

I guess by living in a country that drives on the same side as the UK then they will never really know you imported it. Whereas a UK car imported to,lets say France, will always be noticeable due to the driving position so they might get funny about it.

So the situation is as follows. The local dealership in Malta will give me 2 years on the mechanical aspects. The warranty on the paintwork and anti corrosion is 4 and 12 years respectively. Dates were confirmed after I gave them the VIN no of the car I'm after. There is apparently no way to get hold of the extra 3 years on the mechanical aspects
