Quick question, I am talking about the P with steering wheel and the one to the right of it.

I am guessing the one next to hazards is parking sensors?

Park plus is the P with the steering wheel. The one to the right activates the parking sensors and reverse camera if under 10MPH.

I disagree surely that one on the right is P for Phasers as you can clearly see it's firing phaser beams at that traffic cone to destroy it!!! (Now that would be an option I'd spec!)

The one with the steering wheel is park assist (ie, look for a space and guide you in). The other one just turns the parknig sensors on, whether you have the plus pack or the standard ones or whatever, and the reversing camera if you have that.

It’s park assist - self parking as others have said.

If this is your car why didn’t you press it and find out what it does?

Those are known as 'expensive' :D

Serious answers above (semi automated parking and radar parking sensors)

I don't mean to be a ****, but do you not have a handbook with your car?

Puzzles me that someone goes to the effort of making a thread on a forum, taking a photo and then asking the question instead of opening a handbook that has a picture of the dash and numbered arrows that tell you what buttons are - and it's nothing to do with "age of the internet" I'm 25

Anyhows park assist and parking sensors lol.

I would have thought the first thing to do is press the button.... and when it shows that it is searching for parking and asks you to indicate which side you want to park on it should be obvious it’s auto-parking.

  1. Its not really a lot of effort to hit new thread and type a sentence.
  2. I didn't take a photo i had noticed it online and was inquisitive after a quick search
  3. I am at work so could not access a handbook for such a quick question i needed a quick answer to which leads me back to point 1.

Reason for asking? I am getting parking sensors retrofitted by Ash to the rear bumper and wondered if i needed to get one of these to do a "proper" job.

Happy Monday all :)

That is what I call "loaded" car.
Drives me loopy if there are missing buttons. Still bugs my there is a "blank" button by design on the S3!

Stupid thing is I've paid for park plus and never use it!

Because it has park assist?

Because he's only missing passenger airbag light and one more button. My car has only like 3 or 4 of those buttons actually do anything.

Exactly, same here! :D I am even thinking of getting replacement buttons (which obviously won't do anything) but at least the panel won't have empty slots which is driving me mad.

I believe it's a button from the e-tron you're looking for...this was a discussion I had at length with the dealer and parts department :)

Makes sense even if it's super annoying lol

Hopefully someone here will buy a fully loaded e-tron and show us the pic of those beautiful buttons. :D

Kinda concerning...are we (collective) envious of someone with an electric vehicle

Think I'll go sit down for a while and have a chat with myself

Not needed for rear only, if you had fronts done I would supply the correct button anyway

The only extra buttons are there because of park assist & sensors (which you have to have with park assist anyway). All the others are in every A3.

Edit: Oh wait, I forgot Drive Select wasn't standard! OK, so Park Assist and Drive Select then. Still not exactly 'loaded'!

For some reason, my car doesn't have passenger airbag button (light) there either, third world country standards. You would be amazed to know how prestigious even the basic A3 is here where I live, people literally stop me to ask what it is sometimes as majority of the country drives Golf MK2 still.

That is why I called his car loaded - different standards here.

Worse than that, when I was looking for a 2nd hand car a few years ago I saw one with the switch by the gear lever for 'Nav' fitted even with the car not specced with a nav option. Trying to use it gave a 'not installed' message of similar. A real button/switch that does nothing is worse than a blanking plate in my mind ;-)
