Hey all!

I'm new to this forum and please if this not in the right category say!!

I have a audi A3 2.0 tdi (140) and have a very annoying issue when I seem to go up hills on a motorway for example and accelerate ( when car is at maximum torque) my car goes into limp mode!!

I had a turbo recon fitted 20k miles ago and it did it before and after it was fitted.

I have had the car put onto a vagcom and it is coming up with fault:

1 Fault Found:
16618 - Boost Pressure Regulation
P0234 - 000 - Limit Exceeded (Overboost Condition)
Freeze Frame:
RPM: 2205 /min
Torque: 252.0 Nm
Speed: 96.0 km/h
Load: 54.1 %
Voltage: 14.29 V
Bin. Bits: 11000000
Absolute Pres.: 2121.6 mbar
Absolute Pres.: 2499.0 mbar

Please could I have some advise on what to tackle next! I'd really appreciate it! Thanks all.

Ollie

Intercooler pipes and seals can leak or split. You'll need to examine them closely.

Also something I didn't mention, I opened my bonet and noticed when revving the engine I could see 'black smoke' coming from the gasket where the pipe goes into the egr valve, could this cause limp mode?

Yes definitely. Problems with your egr will cause limp mode, had it muself and ended up replacing the egr. The egr itself can be cleaned with carb cleaner but with mine it was the motor.

Ah I see!

So the egr actually caused you limp mode? Would you suggest having the egr valve blocked off?

Its a ****** nightmare when it hits limp mode.

Im also reading it could possibly be the n 75 valve, I'm not even sure where that's located on this engine

Hi again, I had my car on a ramp and this is one of the pipes, am I right in saying that this pipe goes into to the intercooler?

All this gunk around it?! Is this an issue?

Just oil collecting and weeping in the lowest part of the pipework. There will always be a little in the intercooler pipes. Your looking for leaks and splits.

Ok thanks.

I will update once it is back on ramp.
