2014 Audi A3 8V 1.6 TDI SE Clocks and MMI4G Swap Over!

We see a lot of vehicles which have been purchased from auction here at VAG Car Coding, both drivable ones and breakers. This Audi A3 was once in a very bad way but the owner has repaired it to a very high standard and brought ti over to VAG Car Coding for the final needed works. Both the Clocks / Instrument Panel and MMI4G Standard Main unit has been damaged in the vehicles accident and replacing these items will trigger “component protection”, the VW Group Anti-Theft measure which only an authorised services provider can code and remove.

Autosport International 2018 - Liberty Walk vs Nero Design?

There was a lot of talk about two projects which were being unveiled at the show on Thursday, the Liberty Walk Aventador Build and the Nero Design Aventador, with a lot of people thinking that they were in competition with each other… something which was simply not true. The Liberty Walk Build, which I was involved in, was a complete strip, back to basics, rip out OEM parts, retrofit of aftermarket and custom parts and then re-build type project. The Nero Design Lambo was all about styling and design… and I have to say the carbon work on the car is just a thing of pure beauty… and thats a big thing for me as anyone who knows me knows that I HATE carbon fibre lol With that said however, as much as I was blown away by the quality I just hate the shape of that Aventador rear wing.

Ok, am off to buy a real camera now as the iPhone 8 plus just isn’t gonna cut it and in no way does this car any justice at all.

Mr @realhass and his modified 2008 Audi S3 8P over for some ABS coding and more!

Always a pleasure to meet up with @realhass but this time it was to sort out some issues on the S3. Following a problem with both the brake and FWD systems this vehicles ABS control module had been “coded out” in order to make the car drivable. However once the issues were sorted the mechanic could not code the ABS module… not a problem for VAG Car Coding!

ABS Module Coding and Steering Sensor Calibrations done! We even configured the RNS-E to display the Lamborghini Logo as a start up screen!

2015 Audi A7 4G Stolen Recovery!

Just before Christmas the owner of this fully loaded Audi A7 came home to find that it was not on his driveway. Even worse was the “scum” who took it had broken in to his house and taken a key in order to do so! Luckily a short time later the vehicle was found by the police, still in the area, and returned to the owner. Now, the “scum” only took one key as the owner had the other with him at the time, which would mean that they could come back and take the car again until the locks were changed. The owner reached out to VAG Car Coding as the Audi supplied key insurance was taking time to sort out.

So what did we do? This vehicle had 3 keys coded to it and we removed them all and then coded the remaining key back to the vehicle. Now although the “scum” could still use the key blade of the key they stole to open the vehicle, they would not be able to start it and drive off.

This is an Audi Light Switch - But whats wrong with it?

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is an Audi Light Switch. Does yours look like this or kinda like this? If it does then it needs fixing as its in the crash position!

The rotary switch should be flush with the surround (see second photo) but as you can see in this first photo it has been pushed in. Why does this happen? There is a stupid EU rule that states that certain interior equipment must “collapse” in the event of an accident, in order to protect both driver and passengers. Which is fine and all… but for a little light switch? lol What actually happens is that your knee catches this switch on the way in and out of your car lol. Hard to believe but almost all of the Audi’s I see have their switches in this position!

Want to fix your Light Switch? Turn it to the “0” or “Off” position and then pull the switch control towards you until it pops out and is once again flush with its surround. Job done! In some cases a “collapsed” switch can turn / spin past its marked positions and cause dash warning lights.

2013 SEAT Leon 5F 5DR 1.6TDI Sound System and Video in Motion Coding Session!

The owner of this SEAT Leon was not happy with the sound quality of the basic sound system his car came with and after a little research installed all the needed parts in order to turn his basic sound system in to the SEAT Sound system, however he was unable to activate his newly installed centre speaker and subwoofer via the normal “go to” coding tools. VAG Car Coding to the rescue! Coding and activations of this type are not an issue for use and after connecting to the vehicle we activated the new speakers and added a Subwoofer control to the vehicle media system tone control menu. Oh, we also activated Video in Motion!

2016 Audi A6 4G 3.0TDI Black Edition Avant Audi Smartphone Interface Activation!

A rather nice Audi A6 over for an Audi Smartphone Interface activation, which adds both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features to the Audi MMI System. No messing about here, no hacking, we only use genuine OEM Audi activation codes and licences so everything is logged against your VIN / Database record and your warranty is 100% safe. Unfortunately this car had an OEM reversing camera installed via another company, using 3rd party applications, so when the Audi Smartphone Interface was activated the Official VW Group tool wiped the camera coding as the related PR-Code had not been added to the vehicles “feature” database. Not a problem for VAG Car Coding! We had everything back up and running within 5mins.

2014 Audi A3 8V 2.0TDI Saloon Rear Lighting Issue!

A very last min job before VAG Car Coding closed down for Christmas, this Midlands based Audi A3 saw us previously retrofit an Audi Sound System and a Reversing Camera but recently the rear left side lights had developed an issue and the outer most cluster was not working correctly. Not willing to trust anyone else the owner of this vehicle drove down from Loughborough in order to have a fault finding session with us. What did we find? First we checked that our reversing camera retrofit was not related to the issue and as we suspected the problem was not related to any of the works we had completed. We found that two wires within the main loom which runs down the left side of the vehicle, reversing camera was run to the right side, were broken where the loom flexed when the boot lid was being opened and closed. We rejoined the wires using correctly crimped heat shrink butt connectors, re-wrapped the loom, repositioned it and sent the client on his way.

2012 Audi A5 8T 1.8TFSI Coupe Body Control Module Retrofit!

The owner of this vehicle is in the process of performing a facelift and is at the stage where he would like to retrofit the OEM Xenon headlights, but in order to do so a different version of the vehicles Body Control Module needs to be retrofitted. The owner had taken this car to another coding company but when they tried to install the new module they were met with the VW Group Component Protection, which they were unable to remove. Not a problem for VAG Car Coding! As an authorised services provider we have all the tools which are needed in order to officially remove component protection and then perform any needed codings.

At the time of posting, if you are lucky enough to be in the position to be building an Audi R8 V10 Plus on the Audi of America website you will find that Audi Smartphone Interface is not an option. This means that our USA friends cannot take advantage of Apple CarPlay or Andriod Auto integration, something which we in the UK have as standard with all modern Audi vehicles.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The owner of this lovely machine thought that the above was strange and started to investigate and when he approached the USA based dealerships and Audi of America he was told a flat no, its not possible for you to have this feature. He then found VAG Car Coding and after a short discussion, followed by a remote coding session….
