Hey guys,

So my mum drove my car to a job interview and then to a shopping centre. During all this, my 2005 Audi A4 B7 2.oTDI was running fine with no problems. However when she tried to start the car, nothing happened. The radio, lights, dashboard and the AC were as normal, but the engine doesn't make a sound. At first it would click, but now it doesn't make a sound. We've tried tapping the starting motor, using jumper leads, and resyncing the fob, believing that it was the central locking system, but nothing is working.

If anyone could help that would be great. Thanks.

Fuses and relays all ok ?
Usually get a key/car icon on dash if it's key/immo related.

Try bump starting it ?

It's an automatic, so it won't bump start.

We've used the auto scanner and it hasn't come up with an error, but still not starting

Sounds like something's jammed to me

If it's immobiliser then 'safe' will appear where the milage indicator is.

If it was clicking that's the solenoid moving across the starter should go.

One of four things, starter or solenoid failure, fuse gone, battery shot or engine jammed somehow like water in cylinder, fuel in cylinder cambelt gone valve dropped to name some scenarios. First check voltage get started checked. Take off and apply voltage, if that works you have to suspect something jammed.

Also I suspect an auto has some sort of device to stop you starting it in gear. Best to check this out, though I'm a manual car owner so I can't guide you much!

Could it be the ignition wiring?
