Hi all,

Has anyone on here had a 1.6 TDI remapped?
I'm looking into it but I can't seem to find much information from anyone that's had it done...
Has anyone had the remap on this particular engine, and if so, is it worth the money?
How long have you had it?
Have you had any problems with your turbo etc since having it done?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

I think that not too many users got this engine here, however you will go on stage 1 (remap only) or more? If only remap, it's safe, they just will pull all the power till safe margin of it. Still depend of what remap you will get, you get the choice from just generic map, road map, rollers custom map (3rd is most expensive but I think it's worth it because they will test your car and from your original map they will build the new fully customized one for you), road map is generic map with some modifications from car logs, prices start from generic file around 100-150£, road map around 200£+, rollers are like 300£+, if its worth it? I think for 30hp spending like 200£ isn't bad.
On my 2.0tdi I'm doing like stage 2: (downpipe 2,5", map sensor 4bars, billet hybrid turbo, new seals, oil feed pipe, + remap with de-cat and egr delete) All around 1k pounds. and going from 140hp to around 210hp-220hp, in future will change also injector nozzles to achive like 240hp.

Okay that's interesting, thanks! I've had a couple of quotes, one from Celtic Tuning, another from a more local specialist, and both are quoting me £300 for a power and torque increase of 40% which would bring the engine up to meet the figures of the 140hp 2.0 TDI. I'm wondering if the 1.6 and the 2.0 share mechanical components such as drive shafts etc, or if they are different between models? Obviously the turbo is different, but Celtic have assured me that engine-wise, the remap is perfectly safe and within the safe limits of the engine's capabilities.

Does anyone know which mechanical components are shared between the 1.6 and 2.0 TDI models excluding the engine?

The 1.6 and 2.0 engines don't share alot.

140bhp is safe for the 1.6 and 1.9 engine as a stage 1 map. No issues at all.

Okay that's great, I'll definitely consider it then, and if I do go ahead then I'll keep peeps up to date on my experience with it in case anyone else is considering it. Thanks

I've driven quite a few mapped 1.6 TDI's and thye drive fine compared to stock. My own 1.9 TDI 105 has been remapped for 75k now (now on 170k miles) and zero issues.

depend of witch 2.0 tdi we speaking, but anyway 1.6 is on common rail (so we will speaking of 2.0 tdi after 2006) as well it's smaller than 2.0 so shafts etc... wouldn't fit, maybe some external components like alternator, engine mount etc... but nothing major

I have the a3 saloon sport 1.6 tdi 110bhp and also want to know about a stage 1 remap the map i have went for gives me 30bhp and 60 torgue increase would this be ok for this engine or does things need changed
