Okay, so on a bit of impulse today, new FL A3 Saloon on the way. Realised I forgot to ask about the cost of extending the 3 month trial for the connect services.

Those that have this, is it worth it? Any idea on how much should I decide to extend past the trial? Is it dealer service to implement?

As far as I know it's handled online, so you just have to sort it through there. No idea how much. I think it's worth it - I use the dictate text message feature all the time, google earth imagery is always on, the traffic info is useful, and the parking and fuel info I use a lot too. Oh, and using google to search for navigation destinations too.
 
Thanks Cemerson, sounds a useful feature to have, can it provide wifi hotspot as well? My phone signal is a rubbish to say the least.

Will see if I can add it to myaudi login.

Plus you can find your car using the US MMI Connect app and normal MyAudi login (I used my Oz one which worked).
The app does some other internet radio stuff too.

Yes, but you have to provide your own SIM card for that to work.

Ah... Really, it doesn't work with the SIM card they provide you guys? That's crazy.

We don't get any official Audi Connect services in Australian & no sim card supplied.

So we throw in any SIM card, and that gives us Google maps overlay and search.
So we're just buying long expiry data sims.

Off topic, but it's still worth it to answer OP, just for the Google map overlay.
 
I mean for the wifi hotspot you have to supply your own SIM card

He says he has poor phone signal. So the WiFi hotspot will be no better - right? Cos it's just using 3G/4G. If he can get a SIM card that gives a better reception than his phone, he could switch phone service supplier anyway.
 
It's £99 a year.

Message Audi UK on Facebook, they have extended the free trial period to 12 months. I requested and mine was extended a couple of months back.

It will likely run out as I look to change for an RS3.

Hey Jemichae how did you enter you myaudi pin into your vehicle. I can't find it under the MMI settings. Also does the parking location o ly work when you connect to the car's hotspot?

I didn't enter my pin. It came up by itself, so assume that it happened during build and then connected when I added my VIN to MyAudi.

Cant confirm car location only via hotspot, but I don't think so.
I've never connected to the car hotspot with my mobile... so updates could possibly be coming through the cloud when the car is switched on. I would hope so to be useful. Will do some testing next time I take her out.

Mine only ever works when connected to the wifi. I'm in the city but it still shows my last park when connected to the wifi. Are you using the American App?

Yes, the US app.
