A3 2.0 TDI 2007 REAR SUSPENSION KNOCK

Hi,

i have a really annoying rear passenger side suspension side knock/creaking noise when i go ever bumps like pot holes, rumble strips, divets, pot holes etc.. big bumps it doesnt really do it, a garage has had it twice and it still does it!! what could it be?! nothing looks out of place or shows in signs of being the culprit. HELP.

I had a similar issue, it sounded as if the contents of the spare wheel tool kit were rattling around whenever I went over a bump , despite everything being secured, I cured this by turning the music up,lol.
Eventually I got under the rear and noticed on each side there was a big plastic shield thing covering the rear lower suspension arm on each side (I've no idea what it does!) which appeared loose on both sides of the car.
A few minutes with some cable ties saw them both much more secure and now the noise is much reduced, not totally gone but certainly at a level I can live with.
Might be worth a look?

try a new rear shocker , may have side to side play in the shocker . daughters 2009 ibiza had this and a shocker was only £18 brand new plus theres only 3 bolts to remove the same really easy to do half hour tops to swap one

yeah im thinking shocks Hollow, shocks for the A3 are about £70 each and there a bit more to do than 3 bolts, how can i tell the shocks are worn to guarentee itll work? ive bounced up and down on the back to try and replicate the noise but cant hear anything at all..

Rear shocks on a a3 is easy to get out if it is the shock at fault.

Hi guys,

update - got under it myself and ignored the garage, found that one of the guardsd by the wheel was very loose (which is what nessy said), put a bolt in to secure it a bit better (not perfect) but it has nearly stopped, going to secure it properly when i get a chance, also noticed the shield clips by the exhaust is loose so ordered these to replace these so thats secure also, cheers for the help.
