Hi guys first post and looking for some help.

After getting my S3 (2009 8p1) which I love, and driving it around for about a month now, Im starting to ease off with the right foot, and looking to make those longer motorway journeys a bit easier by installing cruise control.

I have had a look on the forums and it seems a pretty simple job, as long as I can work out how to install VCDS vag-com to my apple mac (probably end up getting it coded at a garage)

The thing thats really bothering me and stopping me from starting is I am not 100% sure on what part number i need, and if there is actually any difference between the part numbers with different letters after them?

http://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a3+s3+sportb+lim+qu/a3/2009-646/0/051-51020/

Here is a link to what i believe is the part number to use, although I don't understand the 'notes' section

8P0 054 690 is the one im thinking of at the moment?

Any help on this would be much appreciated. Joe

Vcds will only work on a Mac through a virtual machine that runs windows. If you can only use a windows machine to code your car. It runs fine for diagnostics on a Mac but when I tried coding my lights it fried the control module.

Cruise control is a good mod a quite simple just get the right kit, got mine from stoke audi on eBay they will sort you out with the right one

If you have multifunction steering wheel it should be a straight instal without worrying about the repair wire.

I have a full install guide in my thread

Coding in VCDS configures bits in the EEPROM part of the embedded controller, these bits are specifically designed to be changeable this was not the cause of your fried control module.

If you Windows machine is able to operate USB to read the vehicle then it definatley can also configure the control modules (regardless of wheat her it is a virtual machine or not).
