hello everyone I'm new here.
I have had my a3 s line 8p 09 2l tdi for 2 years now with no major issues touch wood. Last night I drove to the shop literally 10 mins away, got back in my car afterwards and the emission light is on, this is the first time anything like this has happened with my car so I'm a bit worried. Trying to find someone with vag com local to Leicestershire without having to pay £100+ at a garage :( can someone please help in what this could be? Thank you :)

Pic for advice - car has also done short of 150k

You can also buy a bluetooth obd2 dongle off eBay and download the torque app, this allows you to plug in the small adaptor to the obd port connect to your phone through Bluetooth and then do a basic scan to check for faults. Can also clear them.

Handy to have but obviously a proper scan if you can get a helpful person willing to help would be best.

Yea the OBD2 ELM327 dongle should work, should give you a read out on your phone if you get the app.
I got an android phone use Torque which works well, it's free but can pay for extra features. I got mine off eBay, my one is like this here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Mini-...r-Android-Torque-Auto-Scan-Tool-/162312931706

Same as the one I have and works fine. For £5 can have the adaptor and buy the app.

I have the torque app its good.

Just bought the carista app/dongle its that bit better for codes. I.e my dv was shot, the torque app didnt spot it however carista got it right away. It is more pricey tho, iirc £30 dongle. £30 for full subscription but it is a 1 off fee.
