Hi guys,

I'm having some trouble with my 2.0l quattro (10 plate). I started my car and got half way down the road and as I was changing from first to second gear my car cut out completely. I switched my car off and tried turning it on again but the engine wouldn't turn over. I left it for a minute and tried again but nothing apart from "ESP fault see owners manual" was coming up. I called AA but they themselves didn't know what the problem was. He plugged in a battery pack first. He then sprayed something (some sort of flammable spray) whilst I turned the car on and had my foot half way down the accelerator the engine finally turned over and the lights on the dash went off as I started driving off. The AA man didn't know what it was and said it could be something with the fuel but isn't sure.

Luckily it drove fine and switched off and on again without a problem. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, do you know what it was and how to solve it?

Thanks

Hi mate
Crank sensors can do that sort of thing but not 100%.

You need to plug it into a error code reader to know what triggered the Engine Management System (EPC) error light

I agree with the others, I had this kind of problem and it turned out to be the crankshaft sensor but you would need get your car fault scanned to be sure.

Take it to a garage you trust, I had 2 garages tell me different things and they were both wrong.
