I'm only noticing it immediately after cold start. I agree letting the idle settle seems to sort it.
Same problem and solution on outgoing S5 (s-tronic)

I might be teaching everyone to suck eggs but every car I've owned race the idle when cold, its because more fuel is dumped in to cold start an engine and aid warming up...
Ok thanks for that, perhaps then, as I believe the gearbox is in other manufacturers cars, it might be a good idea to research other forums that have a reference to it?Yup, I think we've drifted slightly here. Cars idle higher on cold start. That's a given. What a few of us have noticed is, however, the drivetrain jumping forward when foot released from break. Jolting the car quite fast. Never done it in my B8.5 S4.
But now, here's an example of an S5 V6 supercharged doing the same. 90% of the time, letting the idle run down fully stops the issue. But not every time. Point being, the 8 speed is a very different animal from what a few us are seeing.

On the S4 how long to let the idle run down?

In searching google there's a few on the zf 8hp automatic gearbox...
It's a weird one for sure. It really is quite a violent jolt. My car has been sitting for best part of a week this week so will be interesting to see if the handbrake/brakes are an issue tomorrow when I go home. It's a minor issue that seems to have remedied with waiting a few mins but it just caught me off guard quite a lot a few weeks ago. Is it a Porsche derived gearbox?

Does the steering wheel have red stitching when you order magma ?

Certainly does. I didn't expect it. It's throughout the interiorSublime.

Thank you that will keep me going till mine comes![]()
I love the carbon inlays that's something I'll regret. Hopefully mine will be here in next few weeks![]()

That combo is nothing short of stunning. The carbon inlays and contrast stitching turn what for me personally is a pretty awful seat colour into a place of pure joy. There ya go lads. Hope that helpsPeople are consistently bowled over by the magma. You're gonna love it!

Aesthetically it is not too big. Technically I have no idea.
Definitely looks fantastic but we all know the 'buts'.
Ps.. did you take that photo, if so what is that brown/orange/bronze thing in the background?![]()
Just don't go around any corners in it as it looks to me as if the front tyres are inside the wheel arches...
I'd really expect the ride comfort to be pretty poor with 21's.

21's too big - 20's yes! Will definitely need lowering
There's some 20" rotors in the trading post, I like the look of them, was quite tempted!
@Thundercliffe81 What Audi Connect Services can you use? Seems the 36 month subscription is useless looking at the MMI thread?!
Mine automatically tells me where the car's location is when I have parked it up. No need to tell the connect app anything, but then you have a iPhone...
IOS10 already automatically marks your cars location when you park and disconnect from Bluetooth or CarPlay. Works perfectly on mine so I've no need to go near the Audi apps to do it.
Always amazes me how accurate it is - even down to the right parking bay i left it in...
