I have 2009 3.0tdi in need of replacement inlet manifold flaps can anyone recommend the best kit to use. As tps don't seem to list a kit for my car just the earlier engine

Thanks john

You can get genuine repair kits from the dealer and tps for around £10

Shak

I tried tps a couple of weeks ago and they said they dont do one for my car will try them again if not ill try ebay. Just worried about the quality of eBay

Thank john

Do you need to replace the whole flap assembly. Usually it's just the arms that need changing. I had fault codes on my B8 3.0tdi and changing the arms resolved the issues.
These are genuine parts that you could get from the dealer if you wanted. The arms are the same for pretty much all the 2.7 and 3.0 TDI engine variations.

It looks like the arms may have been changed already as they look in perfect condition so I suspect its the bushes that are at fault

How many miles has the car done?. There was no negligeable wear on the arms I changed on my car and it stopped the errors.

Yeah I wasn't lucky enough to get away with just the arms, had to do the flaps as well, the plastic clips that keep the flaps tight were shot so I had sloppy flaps. Sorry for talking about tight and sloppy flaps haha :)

Out of interest did you have a check Eng light come up or did she run funny? Cheers

if im honest just take them off more trouble than they are worth and an easy delete

Seems to run fine but the check lights on. Was initialyour intermittent but now it's on pretty much all the time

Did you use a ebay kit if so was it any good and can you remember which kit you got

The ebay kit is just the arms from audi and re sold for a profit audi is about £10 an arm if I remember

My car had done about 95k when I changed my arms. The ones I took off only had a very small amount of play but that's enough to bring on a fault light

Bringing this thread alive again folks! I'm having the same problem on a 2007 3.0 TDI engine. Fault code is showing up on bank 2. Took the car to a recommended Audi specialist and he replaced the control motor but after 60 miles the warning light came on again and the following codes are showing:

OBD2 - confirmed:
P2011 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit/Open Bank 2

OBD2 - pending:
P2011 - Intake Manifold Runner Control
Circuit/Open Bank 2

Engine:
P1018 - Intake manifold runner bank 2, lower limit not reached

Same faults as before the control motor was replaced and I'm £400 worse off. The mechanic has said the new control arm must be faulty and has directed me to Audi to do a claim under warranty - pretty certain he knows that it's unlikely to be faulty but he doesn't want to investigate any further.

I'm 99% certain the problem isn't with the new control motor so there's no point taking the car to Audi. They told me there will be £99 diagnostic fee if they find the control motor not to be faulty. I'm pretty certain it has to be the swirl flaps.

How difficult are they to replace? Can anyone direct me to which of the kits above that I need?

Thanks in advance for any help guys. I need to get this resolved now after having already spent 400 big ones unnecessarily.

Can't seem to edit the above post. I've noticed a typo in the paragraph after the fault codes. It should read:

The mechanic has said the new control motor must be faulty and has directed me to Audi to do a claim under warranty.

So what has he actually replaced the motor on the intake manifold?

Yes mate, he replaced the control motor on the intake manifold, which I'm now pretty certain didn't need to be replaced at all. The motor cost just over £300.

Do you think I'm best replace the actuator arm next as it's the cheapest part in the process of elimination? If that doesn't solve it, then that only leaves the swirl flaps.

The easiest way to check the motors is first thing on a morning get someone else to start it up why you watch the manifolds. You will see the arms moving. I'd definitely replace the arms as it's the easiest option and only takes a few minutes to do. Remember to clear the codes after. If that doest do it then change the runner flaps m8.

I've just ordered the arms. I noticed there's a fair bit of play in the one that's related to the fault code. Hopefully it's not too hard to fit. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for your help with this mate.

I changed the actuator arm and cleared the codes but the fault came up again. That only leaves the swirl flaps/rod as the offender. They rod/bushing is obviously worn. A repair kit is around £60 so I'm going to get a price on labour before deciding to go ahead with it. It may be time to change!

It's not a hard job to do yourself m8. Just give yourself plenty of time and remember where all the hoses and connections go.

Can anyone assist with finding a part number for the inlet manifold for a 2007 A6 3.0 TDI please? Engine code is ASB.

TPS wouldn't give me the part number when I rang them. Trying to see if one of the fabricated brackets will fit that limits the range of movement of the actuator arm.

Thanks in advance.
