    Hi all,

purchased a 3.0 tdi cab with 90k. I drove around for two days. no problems. then popped home to get changed. Went back out to my car jumped in and pulled away fine out of the drive. Then i went to pull out of the road. engine died. then wouldnt start. eventually got it started decided to see how far i could get. happened again. called the AA out the guy was ever so helpful. but with no result of resolving the issue.

fault code the aa guy was p0200 injector circuit malfunction.

I eventually got it home after multiple restarts and the engine not starting and stalling.

I've found that if i take it gently and hardly use the throttle its fine and only once in a while it will cuts out. It happens every time you put your foot down. which is no good with your newly freshly purchased car.

there is no smoke when idling or when driving around.

Took it the garage they said it could be the throttle body. so we unplugged it and it was still happening. - would that work?

Any ideas, trawled through the forums with no one with the same issue.

If anyone had an idea it would be most grateful.

    thank you

    Did some googling found this

    Summary TPI Account №: 2014766/5
3.0 liter / 2.7 liter TDI: sporadic malfunctions of the engine permits the publication date: 10-08-2009

Problem Description Client / Conclusion station

The warning lamp lights up the engine and / or the engine stalls.

Errors in the engine control unit: P0200 (nozzle - an electrical fault in the circuit) or

P1195 (control valve fuel pressure open / short circuit to ground) or

P1281 (fuel metering valve, a short to ground) or

P1572 (valve left engine mounting -N144, short to ground) or

P2009 (regulating valve intake manifold, a short to ground) or ...

May be affected by all nodes connected to the corresponding branch harness: the fuel temperature sensor, glow plug control valve fuel pressure sensor, camshaft sensor, coolant temperature sensor, exhaust gas temperature, intake manifold flap, electro-pneumatic pressure transducer, high-pressure pump, terminal 50 starter switch reversing lamps, oil pressure sensor, the left support of the engine, generator, etc. kl.61

    Technical Background

    1. The engine wiring harness rubs against the arm of the fuel filter, causing electrical interference.

    2. Engine harness rubs against the bracket 'bracket lifting motor', causing electrical interference.

The figure shows a bracket on the left side under the coolant expansion tank - the right-hand side may also be affected -> same metal bracket.

Fits in with what you say, when you toe it the engine will be moving more which may be causing a short between an injector harness wire and the chassis. Check the run of the harness from the engine back to the ECU.

I'm said to say i found some places which were rubbing but not on the tpi. But with no results sadly not a bare wire in sight . This is quite a puzzling issue. All i can think of is air or fuel. the way its cutting out. I guess im the slowest 3.0 tdi out there atm. Thanks for the suggestion.

Never updated this. They had it for another day and found the problem. Apparranty two injectors were shorting cause the ecu to shut the engine down. Which they'd never come across before. They changed them and it's been good as gold ever since.

Well that was unlucky, As you say not come across this before on the 3.0 TDI. The Piezo injectors on early 2.0 TDI cars had loads of issues with the injectors going short to earth which shuts the engine down. Good that you came back and provided the answer, hopefully may be of some use to somebody in the future.

My 2008 3.0tdi stalls when hot. Fires up straight away when cold.
Changed HP pump, filter and cps with no difference.
Tryed to unplug the temp sensor resulting the fan to blow all the time. The engine did not get any temperature and ut did not stall ås it stayed "cold"

I tell you what the issue here is Gents... I spent 1700 replacing every part associated with the fuel system... ended up taking it to BOSH specialist.. there is another pump up front which has a pin in it that should push in and out constantly... this some times jams and needs freeing up.. or slows down and ends up cutting out. Solved the problem I literately replaced everything apart from fuel pipes and rail. And it drove like a dream unfortunately written off 2 days later...
