3.0 gearbox question

Hi

Just wondering what auto box a 3.0 Cab would have....

FWD - Multitronic or the 'normal' 5-speed auto?
4WD - Tiptronic?....

Heard some bad things about the Multitronic box so want to avoid...but would rather like a 3 litre!

the bigger engines didnt get the Multitronic box, as they cant handle the higher levels of torque.

So any 3.0L auto will be a "normal" auto with tiptronic control i presume.

That's sort of true. The rule on A4, A6 and A8 is that Multitronics are only on FWD cars and Tiptronics are only on Quattros.

AFAIK, the 3.0 was only available as a Quattro in the saloon so will be a Tiptronic but I believe the 3.0 was available with Multitronic and FWD in the cab. Same goes for the 3.2 in the B7s
