I bought the car 1 month ago and as yet not taken delivery of it!!

Family owned from new, FASH. Anyway here we go...

It had a Power issue on test drive, other than this I was happy...few little niggly things nothing major all to get sorted by the garage...

Anyway MAF, Injectors and recon turbo (which was deffo knackered, vains had corners missing) and now has the power it should, but the garage now say it has a louder than it should whistle. So its back to the garage that removed, sent off and fitted the recon turbo. They can not find anything wrong...The Garage I'm getting the car from are sending a VAG guy (sound like a Indy Audi Specialist) to the garage 1st thing in the Morning to asist in Diagnosing the issue...

Obviously any help would be great, but will keep you all posted...

Will try and Post a Picture in relivant place soon as I can.

id be worried where the bits of turbo had gone...
if exaust side ok ish but if inlet side!!!!!

Yeh, they said that....and have checked the Cats...what are the chances of it going the inlet way? I'd have thought quite slim as gas flow would make you think it would follow the flow of the gas outward?
Should know more tomoz lunch...just want the car...right of course and don't want them to rush things.
Also the more parts they fit the better I think for me in the future...recon turbo alone can't be cheep!!

is this from the garage you bought it from?

if so, they maybe pulling your plonker! had a similar story some years back on my a4, certain things were not right and they spent time diagnosing, saying they replaced this and that, in the end they were just avoiding the issue i.e. a turbo on the way out and control arms needing replacement

you need to get it to a specialist for proper check

where abouts are you in the UK??

Bolton,
The Garage I bought from are being very good, they sent to a Diesel specialest for the Work.
Today they had had a VAG guy look at it at the garage that fitted the recon turbo and he suspects the Fuel Pump.
However, he is saying its "coded" to the car, is this correct?
Its now got the power it should have but they say there is too much Turbo Whistle or boost pressure.

Guess not....
Anyway Garage rang today to say the Pump in the tank (one with valve?) is all crudded up...so ordered a new one to arrive Monday...
Just hope this solves the issue...as if it does, should get the car Tuesday Wednesday!!!
Fingers x'd

Wasn't the fuel tank pump.....

Yes, vag guy call (see previous posting) said Injection pump. But they took the one out of the tank and it was crudded up so fitted a new one...not that though.

their obviously idiots. get your money back and leave them to it.....

injection pump is common failure, as is the turbo vanes sticking.

If you can get these replaced then its all good.

If the injection pump needs changing, does it run off the timing belt? i.e. should the timing belt be changed again even if it was done recently?

Assuming its removed and refitted correctly no need to change the belt. But given that the belt is a few quid against the massive cost of the pump i see no reason to skimp at this point.

Make sure that the cambelt tensioners were done as well as the waterpump and thermostat as access requires removal of these prarts to get at them should they fail later on

I'll ask the question, I know it was done because I remember going through the history...would hope water pump and therostat done at same time....

THE WP and stat are not normally done unless specified by the user. Normally just the belt, sometimes the tensioner.

Yeap, i had found that the hard way: i rebuilt a AKE engine due to worn cams, but the previous owner had a local garage fit a cambelt kit in witch the belt was supllied by DAYCO. Yep, few k down the line the belt broke at the joint line resulting in 3 grand worth of damage. Fortunately i do the job myself so i fitted a Contitech cambelt kit at the 2nd rebuild so make shure they are putting Gates or Contitech belts, nothing else !

New injection pump arived today at the garage after testing and finding the old one was faulty....so hoping to get Allroad ealy next week...
They have assured me they wil fit a new timing belt and pully too. Water pump was done 10k ago when the timing belt was done..

Would like to ask them to do the thermostat too as believe thats a b1tch and dimilar involved so easier to do as same time...but with them having just spent well over a grand on it, I'm a bit warry asking, so just hope its ok.

They loaned me a car on Monday gone too, which eased the tension a little...1.6 04 plate Focus estate.

Fingers x'd....for next week....:yum:

Buy the thermostat yourself and ask kindly to fit that for you. Buy it genuine though !

Right its all back together and running great apparently...however they say its still got too much turbo noice (does not sound like a leak) so the car has been dropped off at the place that rebuild the turbo..

One day I may just get to have it sat on my drive...its been over 6 weeks...must be a record!!

id get my cash back and find another car
they ov dont know what there doing
or id take it to a garage of my choice doubt they will do that as it will cost them to much

Hardly their fault, more the place that recon'd the turbo...
Not only that I could go through the hole thing again if I got another...
So far, new injectors, Maf, Recon Turbo, Recon Inj Pump, new timing belt, water pump, pully and thermostat...
I'm hoping once sorted it should be like a new car...
Just curious as to what the problem is with the recon turbo. They have done a leak test using some fancy dye and it showed no leaks....gotta be the turbo.
It now pulls like a train, no lack of power or hesitation after the inj pump but still high pitch whistle.
I'll find out tomorrow...just hope its summat simple...

Right, its a crack in the egr manifold...should have new one with them tomoz..
Forgot to mesion, its had a new air compressor too for the suspension...
I'm gonna call it the $6 million doller car...its practically been rebuilt!!

****** hell....they replaced the EGR and ERG manifold today, still excessive turbo whistle...
Any thoughts?

id still go for the turbo

Me too, but its been back to the place that recon'd it..maybe they just spotted the crack in the egr manifold an so did not recheck the rebuilt turbo...see what they say later on or tomorrow...
Doin my head in now...

who did the turbo work ?
also did they strip the turbo back down to check ?
i had a prob like yours they tested said it was ok
so i agreed to pay labour charge to remove and strip down
turned out it was the turbo and didnt get charged for the work

To be honest not sure...I only know its in preston...if I google TurboForce is the only one I can find...
But like I say I don't know if its them or not, will ask next time I speak to the garage.
The main work has been done at Euro Diesels, i.e. they took the turbo off and then send to preston.
They had the Inj Pump overhalled etc...
Other than being realy busy which effects when my car gets a see in, they seem ok. I had a drive over ealy on in the saga just to be sure the car was there.

OK, it was TurboForce and it seems the recon may have not gone right as they have removed the turbo again to send it back..
Fingers x'd they get a move on with sorting it and its back together Tue/Wed...

At least at this rate you will have an almost new car. Will be worth the wait IMHO as all the expensive wearing parts have been changed now. The turbo and fuel pump, being the most expensive single parts

Not forgetting the suspension pump!!
I have to agree, also the garage, rightly so are paying for an extended warrenty on the car as much for their piece of mind as mine...
Just hope that they don't take their time...i.e. turbo to them 1st thing Monday, fixed and returned asap, refitted asap then the car back to the garage to be prepped for me to finaly take delivery of it!!!
:yum:

The Turbo needed to be re-ballanced...yeh right...more like they didn't change the bairings or summat...
Anyway, it should all be back together by Sat Lunch, lets just hope it does not squeel anymore.

Right, off to check the guinness world records for the longest someone has had to wait for a car, baring in mind I've still not got it yet...

Yeh, got and all is well....................ish...........

Any other allroad users on here tell me how the suspension should "feel"...it feels a little bouncy to me but been told thats how they are? (not by the garage a few mates) This true?:notme:
Thanks for the help BTW....I'm sure to be on here a lot...

Its having both rear air suspension bags replaced under w/t, also front brake sticks causing it to get hot and smell and drivers door switch..
Then other than the Usual Dash display having line problem all is good...
Just have new glow plugs too...
Don't you just love warrenties...

Bought the Allroad in Jan..30th to be exact...
Only had the car back after the 2 weeks back in April for 2 weeks now and guess what?

Yup suspension packed up again...now lower on one side...

The garage now say time for me to put my hand in my pocket!!!
Car not drivable as front drivers is on the deck, yet does raise once the buttons let me!!!
So it seems small claims court is going to be the route which is just freggin great!!!

So no car, no money to fix, garage being usless and to be honest I regret the day I went for a German engineered car Audi Allroad..!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't even sell it in current state!! So fregged off its untrue...and with all thats been done so far it certainly warrents being sorted...if I had the money I'd just say "stuff it!" and get it done myself, but why should I!?!

Off to Audi for a full Diagnoses of "exactly" what's required to sort it and then take it from there...

To say I'm not a happy chappy is the understatment of the year...
So far...

*January to April*

New Compressor
Spare key ordered as only one Key
Recon Hybrid Turbo Force Turbo (standard with bigger vains or summat)....
Recon Inj Pump (Timing belt, Pump and pully done at same time, they say)
New in tank Fuel Pump
New Maf
New EGR and Manifold
New Injectors (2 leaking!!) been back twice to sort out but don't even think they have looked at them as still leaking to this day!!
One Key lost and the Engine tray has dissapeared!!!
Had car for less than two weeks, rear suspension collapses.

*April until 2 weeks ago*

Both rear air bags and insert new (yeh they just replaced the drivers rear but left the passanger one).
Garage lost another key, replacment Blade key and Full on key ordered and recieved.

*Two Weeks Ago*

Drivers side suspension lower than Passanger
Taken to Garage and errors suspension supased limit and will not reconfigure.....say needs £200 for full diag to find exactly whats wrong and does not charge for todays diag.

Ring Garage I bought from, Garage reccon they spent over £2500 so far hence they are at their wits end and refuse to spend any more even though I now have NO USABLE (fit for purpose) vehicle...

No refund and no offer of replacment equiv Car!!!

Looks like another sleepless night!!!!

I believe (and I am sure someone on this board with greater legal knowledge than I have will correct me) that under the Sale of Goods Act you are within your rights to return the car to the dealer and demand your money back as the vehicle is clearly not or merchantable quality. A quick call to your local trading standards officer or the citizens advise bureau (or failing that a solicitor for a small fee) should be able to confirm your rights and advise you of the correct course of action. The garage has sold you a car that is not fit for purpose and my understanding is that they must either put it right at their cost (or the warranty company's) or take the car back and give you a full refund

Yeh thanks for that I do however know my rights and have already spoken to OFT and just about to speak to Traiding Standards...

Thankfully I Signed on 3 weeks ago JSA, and so small claims court "should" not cost me anything...that said its an allroad so maybe "small" claims should be "large" claims court.
Gonna book in with Audi Stealers today to get a run down of what needed to put right then at least we have a ball park to go off...
I'm sick to my sumach though...did not sleep well at all last night worrying...
Ah well..

post on honestjohn.co.uk forums they have some resident lawyers who see this stuff all the time, some no-win no fee people too who appear solid.
