My car is a 59 plate sportback A3 2.0tdi 170bhp s-line black edition and after reading many threads on here im more confused now than when i started lol.:flushed:
Im wanting to fit an exhaust system that will give me some noise and better flow instead of it sounding like a sewing machine as it does at the minute, also any other recomendations on air filters/induction kits etc that will help.
The car will soon be going in for dpf and egr delte and a remap,so basicly i would like to know what else i can do to improve the sound and possibly power aswell to compliment the dpf/egr delte and map.

If you want a nice sound, ditch the diesel and get a petrol :)

Been there done that fella,i`ve just come from a 500bhp+ subaru impreza and wanted something nice looking a bit more family friendly with some nice modern comforts and decent fuel economy.

Derv's don't sound good with performance exhausts, quieter the better for me.
Certainly not going to sound like your Scooby.

Yeah i know its never gonna sound like a petrol car and not much compares to a properly modified flat four scooby in the sound department, just wanted a little more bass instead of it sounding like a mobility scooter lol.
Seen a few clips on youtube from links on here etc and there are a few nice sounding oil burners out there,i dont want a tractor just a nice deep tone on acceleration, looks like i will just go with a cat back non res milltek or cobra system from exhausts-uk as they are only around the corner from me.

Dont want a tractor but bought a diesel? Waa... if you wanted tone and mpg. 1.4 tfsi :p

@SteelCity-G keep us updated on what you do. I am also very intrested in removing the sewing machine/tractor sound. I've clocked a few nice sounding oil burners on these forms, most of them tend to have some form of miltek or cobra kit on them. Quite a few people say to go down the de-muffler route but the ones I've seen make a horrendous howling whining noise.

Well you won't get any performance from a milltek etc so take all the silencers out of the stock system and gut the backbox completely. OEM look and fitment with the sound you are looking for. You shouldn't get any drone to worry about either.

Wouldn't taking out all the mufflers be horrendously loud? Also every mufflerectomyed car I've seen makes a weird owl noise the momment you let the throttle off

have you considered a sound booster? like the ones fitted to the newer tdi's. You have a choice of like 6 sounds and can change the pitch and stuff through an app. Expensive option tho believe its around £800/£900. I know most people will turn their noses up at this but it would drown out the engine sound and can be turned off if you want a quiet drive.
