1.9PD not starting

I have a problem with an 2003 Audi A4 1.9PD that does start randomly (mostly it doesn't). The problem is I cannot connect VCDS with engine, airbag and abs module. It does connect to a/c module though. If I put the battery to charge (usually after some non start attempts), it fires right up!

What should I first check?

Check the battery amps and voltage with a multimeter

I have found the culprit. It was the ignition switch... For some reason it wouldn't power enough the engine ECU, abs and the airbag module (4Volts only). I have bypassed the ignition switch to the ecu's and it fired right up.

Replaced the ignition switch and all is fine now.
