I'm waiting on a quote for a genuine camera.

Good thing I didn't get folding wing mirrors from AliExpress, they'll probably fold backwards.
Somethings as I understand it is cheap clones and others are genuine items. Audi has factories in china for assembly. That way they avoid import tax. Some parts are, let’s say borrowed and sold so can be genuine items and others are just clones as some parts are too expensive to repair/replace with genuine.
Thing is with Chinese manufacturing, especially cloned items, they are always consistent. So if it’s bad they are all bad but if they are good they are all good.

I am from Larisa , what do you understand with this message from odis e about pdc ?
you have a facelift camera in a pre facelift car, and a possible coding issue. Suggest you check your configurations.

Yes, what I'm asking you is based on the diagnosis that I should look for, what's going on? In pdc ? If you want, please tell me from your experience what I should pay attention in order to solve the problem

How could I contact you?

I assume that in any factory the items are cloned. Unless it's a brand name factory that doesn't have mass production. Bentley or Ferrari or something like that.
But Chinese manufacturing can be quality if it meets standards. Sometimes I think they forget to add enough metal to their parts :haha:

Good morning, check please your e mailbox
Will answer here so others can see the advice.

You need to double check that your codings are correct, beyond this you will need the assistance of someone with the correct tools and who is local to the vehicle in order to make things easier. If needed, someone that knows what they are doping can also update control modules. I do not offer this as a remote service as I do not support cloned tools such as ODIS E.

from what i understand the only solution is to send me a genuine reversing camera. Ok we agree, how can you guarantee me that it will work like the Chinese one but without errors in the diagnosis?

I can’t guarantee, no one can. Don’t know the colour of your car let alone the condition it’s in :)

When someone comes to me for a retrofit I try to complete any works as error free as possible, but it’s not always possible as we are trying to add items that are not supposed to be on the car (don’t matter if it’s an OEM option or not), and also not all errors are actually errors or indeed issues, they can be just advisories. Your error is saying that your facelift reversing camera, that does not belong in your car, is expecting to see a message from the parking sensor system, and this message is not being sent. Could be a coding issue, could be a firmware or software issue. I would be checking the coding first as I have actually had this combination working with zero errors or advisories when customer have supplied their own parts.

FYI, while an AliExpress a3 facelift camera is around £100 I think, a genuine Audi OEM pre face lift camera (with the needed two wiring looms and external module, and bracket) is around £600 in parts to the average person, so I would look at your coding.

As an aside, I do wish people would stop getting hung up on having a clean diagnostic scan. Go buy a brand new Audi rs3 8Y for £70k and I guarantee it will be delivered to you will errors and advisories in the system. Also, look at the logs on your PC or Mac, you will have a heart attack!

Ok I understand very clear thanks for your time, have a nice day

So, I had that ****** wonky Aliexpress camera, and I was looking for a while but even Audi can't seem to source them.

Then I thought maybe I just got unluck with Aliexpress as others seem to have luck.

So I tried again with another 'OEM' fit camera, using the proper Audi wiring.

I was being hopeful, but expected another piece of Aliexpress ****.

So I cut out the old camera (there was no other way as it was too large for the boot cut out and was a ******* to fit in)

This is what I got for £7 delivered to my door.

The camera is perfectly level.

The guidelines work.

The trailer mode is pretty good.

Shame it's a ****** VW camera! lol

Still, £7 vs £350 ish (If they can be found) I can't complain.

Hi, all
Can any assist me? I bought Camera kit for my A3 8v FL, I was told all was Audi genuine new parts. Looks to me like fake knock off ?

Part number on camera is 8v0 827 566 B Has Vw logo on the back . When googling that part number only find cheap Ali Express ones.
But all the connectors are Audi Vw stamped and look good to be fair. Want to send it back if not genuine.

How was the coding done?

Hi!

I have an Audi A3 2016 facelift and I've retrofitted a reverse camera. The car originally came equipped only with rear parking sensors and doesn't have a parking sensor button on the console. Although I've successfully done this retrofit numerous times on Audi A4 B9 and B9.5 models and even created tutorials on this topic, this time I'm struggling with the coding aspect and need some assistance.

Currently, I've coded as follows:

19 Gateway:
  • Installation list Node_0x69 activated
5F Multimedia:
  • VPS_0x0B: activated
  • VPS_0x0B_msg_bus: Terminal 15 (I've also tried CAN_Comfort, CAN_Infotainment, Databus Infotainment)
76 Parking Assistant:
  • Visual Display for park assist: OPS Display
  • Camera type: Rearview camera
I've also restarted the MMI after these coding steps, but nothing happens when shifting into Reverse. I can hear the sensors activating, but no visual sensor display appears on the MMI screen, nor does the camera start. There's a single error on the camera module: "B201000 No basic setting," but I understand that some users have functioning cameras even with this error, as it's related to parameterization.

Could someone assist me? Thanks!

Anyone know where could obtain instructions on fitting Genuine Audi retro-fit reversing camera? As wiring seams different to Guide here?
Has 4 thick power cables with bulit in fuse

Orange = CAN High and Low
Red = 12V
Brown = GDN
Black and white = Video

Loom is different to what's detailed on the fourm but connections are the same.

You will need an authorised VW Group Service Tool user in order to code everything correctly, or someone that knows what they are doing to flashed the needed parameters to the camera and then complete all needed coding.

Thanks for the reply, DJAlix hope you're well!

Because i have 4 power cables. Two into plug and two just terminals dose this mean still going to fuse box ? Don't get what the big male power connector is for ? Also have empty Shell female connector.

Regarding the coding and parameters, if was to fit this myself, i couldn't test it or get to point with obd eleven?
Very much appreciate your time.

your first image, cables in the foreground = a daisy chain connector for power and earth. Background, black and white = video cable and connects to blue connector pins 6 and 12.

Second image = fuse

Third image = CAN daisy chain connector, connects to pins 6 and 12 on the grey connector.

Obd11 will do more harm than good. May the force be with you!

Joking aside, technically obd11 should be able to code your vehicles gateway, parking module, media system. It should also be able to code the camera, as long as it has its needed firmware and parameters, but if a genuine Audi kit, brand new, then it won’t as it’s all downloaded by the official service tool when commissioning.

Damn kinda hoping the genuine kit was going to be bit more straightforward.

Where do those big power connects plug into / daisy chain from? Can't get that in my head, I was expecting to the fuse box.

Firmware and Parameters need to set on camera unit itself? or module/media system in the car?

Thanks again @DJAlix

If you are unable to source the official retrofit document / guide then I would suggest terminating the GND to one of the vehicles many GND points and the 12V to the fuse box.

In relation to the "coding" of the camera, you need a specialist. While the camera can be retrofit using unofficial / 3rd party tools, if you would like if completed correctly then you need to find someone with genuine OEM service tool access.

Manage to source retrofit document. Been told Audi have stopped supplying paper copies, they also made the online portal unavailable!
@DJAlix if send you document could you please put your professional eye over it?

Also waiting on Kent Tuning to get back for the needed firmware and parameters.

This is document I have, very much appreciate if could cast eye over it. Looks like it's from Audi.

The official guide. I would supply this to your installer, but to be honest they should already kknow what to do. If they don’t, or don’t understand the document and process then I would suggest finding someone who knows what they are doing.

This is not a hard retrofit, takes me from 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, but if the installer is not experienced and does not have the correct tools it could be painful.

Hi, I'm a long time member and first time poster.
I've previously done the subwoofer and centre speaker upgrade on the car and got the coded as needed

I've been contemplating the Reverse camera for a while and finally took the first step and got the cabling
I've just got hold of the official Audi wiring kit as above - 81A054733A
I have access to VCDS for the coding part.
I'm wondering if I buy a secondhand A3 official Reverse camera from a scrapped car will the calibration from the original A3 its from work without error on my A3
its a 2018 A3 8V. Or would an official secondhand camera still need calibrating.
I understand that not calibrating will just show an error on a VCD scan but it should still work, but I'd like it to all work and scan as it should

I'm torn between a second hand official camera from an A3 -8V0827566B or possibly an Ali special.

Any help much appreciated

I purchased 2 AliExpress cameras.

The first one worked fine, but the image was too wonky to be any use. That cost me £40 ish.

I purchased a second camera for £8 and for over a year now, it's been perfect, no issues at all. The dip function is also quite useful too. This camera doesn't have the standard Audi lines, but it has VW guidance lines instead.
