Hi,

I have a brand new a1 and I have an issue with my central locking and I think the audi engineers have tried to fob me off.

I can unlock my car with the fob fine, however when I finish a journey and get out of the car I can't get into any of the other car doors without re unlocking the car. This happens even when I have turned the engine off, took the keys out and got out of the car. No one at audi had ever heard anything about it, then one engineer told me it was a feature to stop car jackings. I don't see how as I have turned the car off and got out of the car, not being able to get into the rear door doesn't really stop car jackings.

Has anyone else heard of this before?

This is correct, there is nothing wrong with your car.

It can be changed with VCDS

OK thanks for the replies. First of all that is a crap feature. It's doing my head in a lot. Trying to get my kids and gym bags out of the back is very annoying now! I'll try to feed that back to audi somehow.

@daydotz thanks for the reply but I don't want to start messing with the car to much. It's on a lease and I don't really know what I'm doing so it may not be worth the risk.

Doesn't it have the standard Audi feature on the remote key fob?

One unlock press unlocks just the drivers door, two presses unlocks all doors.

The unlock all or one door, is selected via MMI, under the car settings?

No I checked those settings. They don't relate to this issue. My issue is that when I use the fob all the doors open. When I start driving all the doors lock and then they won't open from the outside even when the engine has stopped and the driver has got out. I cannot open any of the doors without using the fob again. It is very annoying when you have kids and gym bags etc to get out of the back seat every day.

This happens with my new A1 too, didn't happen on my pre-facelift model. Irritating I agree, I've gotten used to it now though. Still, seems like something which should be user configurable.

This can be changed in your settings.turn ignition on,go to car, systems, vehicle settings, central locking, unlock doors. You will get an option for all or drivers.go to all

Holy thread resurrection I know , but it cannot be done doing the above .
The above merely controls how many doors unlock when you first unlock your car using the remote fob.
For the last year or so my mum has been bitterly complaining that each time she stops her 2018 A1 and takes the key out of the ignition and goes to open a rear door from the kerbside the door is locked.
She then either has to reach in and manually unlock all the doors from the master control switch on the drivers door or use the keyfob to unlock all the doors again.
Either way, it’s a damn nuisance, and yes even though I told her it can be overcome by simply pressing the unlock button before getting out of the car she was threatening to trade the car in over the issue!
Today I finally got around to sorting it out permanently and can confirm it can only be done by VCDS or by taking it to a main dealer for them to change the setting.
Using VCDS I went into the central convenience module (I think that’s the one anyway!) and using the long coding helper I found a box marked “Auto unlocking active” which I ticked and then saved .
This did the trick and now once the key is removed from the ignition all the doors unlock , this can be heard quite clearly as they are quite noisy!
Why the car didn’t come from the factory like this though escapes me.....
