knocking noise

Hi i started my car up earlier and it was making a knocking noise from engine bay sounded like it was from passenger side a few minutes later the knocking stopped so i drove to work parked up and the noise came back and then disapeared again but there was no issue with the drive no warning lights. Does anybody no what this could be any help replys would be appriciated cheers

There's no belts on that side I think was it sort of in the footwell area because if it was it could be the dmf...

Funnily enough this happened to me yesterday..Started off to work as normal and I noticed knocking from the front passenger area.I also felt it through the steering wheel so I stopped instantly to check whether I had a flat tyre?.After checking all four tyres I got back in the car and set off very slowly and the knocking had gone...It hasn't returned so for now all is well.. Only thing I can think of is either coil pack or worse steering rack pump(felt knocking in the steering wheel)?? Will follow this thread with interest...

No i dint feel nothing through steering i have give audi breakdown assistance a call to come check it out make sure its nothing major just waiting for them to come and have a look

Am not sure if this is related or not but i get a tapping noise from the engine when my car is in n or p took it down to audi a few months ago and they said it is normal but it does seem a little strange to be normal

It is a well known fact that the TFSI engine are a bit 'tappety'..So what you are explaining probably is normal...

The chap from aa just been he connected it to computer no error codes the car did not knock when he was here so he recomended taking it to audi for a full investigation

All engines that have high pressure direct injection are 'tappy', the tfsi is not alone in this and our 1.0l three cylinder ecoboost fiesta is the same...
