So I fitted my new S-Line multi func. steering wheel in my lunch break today. Literally took 15 mins, and has made such a difference to the interior, much nicer feel when driving too.

That looks fantastic! Makes such a difference! I'm actually on the lookout for a flat bottom. What model is this from?

I'm not entirely sure as I won it in a competition, but It has A1 written on the back so maybe an A1?

Not jealous at all.

Do the steering wheel controls still work?

Very nice.

I did mine last year. Very nice mod imo, transforms the slightly dated interior and feels nice in the hand. :racer:

what competition gives away steering wheels??

It was a competition "Comrades of VAG" ran on Facebook. Done on the lottery numbers I paid a tenner for number 14 and it came out as the bonus ball(1st prize)

Couldn't believe my luck!

Have been wanting to do this for a while now, really don't know where to start, which model steering wheels fit the B7? Where to buy from etc. Please help!

Looks good. Any modifications to the airbag loom?

If I ever decide to get rid of my leather/alcantara DTM wheel with multifunction buttons I'm definitely going mk2 TT flat bottom.

SemiT, if you do go for the new steering wheel then i would be interested in the DTM multifunction wheel you currently have.
Toot.

You may have to fight my brother for it! He has a brand new red-stitched S3 wheel in his A3 and took an instant like to the DTM multifunction.

I'll let you know though. Not on the cards right now, too many other things need attention. One day my totally overkill preventative maintenance OCD will be complete and I'll start buying pretty bits again.

To the original poster (and anyone else with that particular style of wheel)...

Same overall diameter or slightly smaller?

Slightly smaller from memory I can measure for you tomorrow. Not sold the old one yet.

Thank you.

Not a deciding factor for me but smaller steering wheels always seem to feel better.

no it won't fit mate. need dual stage air bag, the dilemma I'm having at the moment trying to find part numbers etc.

So are we saying it would physically fit but the airbag is unconfirmed to work at this stage? So it could work and would deploy both stages in one go?

Im confused as people are putting them in from a1's of same age, so that must be one option that does fit and work??

I'm just as confused, I know a few people who have done this now, seems to fit fine but now I see that the air bag isn't the right one as its not a dual stage

My wheel is from an A3, air bag is from an RS4 so its dual stage, made my own custom loom, radio/phone controls all working.

Sorry to drag an old post up, but is that defo an a1 steering wheel and was the airbag with the wheel (i.e. An a1 airbag) or off something else?

Did the multifunction loom just plug and play and do all the buttons work or did it need pins changing / some buttons not work?

Did it need any recoding above standard a4 mfsw??
