What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Cheers Dani,

It's a quattro. It's just the control arms were so shot, it used to go where it liked. Now it goes where you actually point it.

Not sure rtech will map it mate with it been proper quattro.

Have you called to ask them?

Because they have a 2wd Dyno. Even there new place doesnt have a 4wd Dyno.

A4 quattro's are Torsen based and Not Haldex like s3's etc. S3's can have the Haldex controller unplugged thus putting just 2 wheels on the dyno.

Not with the A4 as its 'true' quattro.

ah right, I was under the impression most mappers used permanent 4wd compatible dyno's , maybe not, and yes B7's are proper Quattro's....none of this wishy washy either or setup...lol

Haha yes.

Its a shame really as they are an excellent team of people.

Thanks for the heads up guys! Looks like it's Revo then. :D

Go see Rick at unicorn tuning instead. He's just as good as niki.

Where are you based Baka? Surrey Rolling Road in farnborough have a 4WD Dyno and Dunc at dynamix will map it.

I have misplaced Dunc's number, but have a chat to Charlie at SRR (+44 7787 114847) he owns the place, really nice guy and he can put you in contact :-D

Thanks for the tips guys, I'm in North Bedfordshire. I've heard good things about Unicorn but it's a bit far for me.

To be honest AKS have done a great job of sorting the car for me. So I'll go the Revo route and let them map it.

That way when I inevitably get bored with the new power. I can get everything for stage 2 & 2+, 30 minutes down the road. :D

are they any good chap, and in Farnborough only a 20 min drive from me and I want a re-remap during july.

I haven't had them map my Audi yet, but had them map other race cars and have been top class.

It will be going to them to be mapped once my engine is back in the car. Sump and heads have gone back on today, timing it now! Got to work out the abomination of timing chains!

Dipped? They look awesome!

Thanks! No dippage, they're OEM carbon trims.

I've seen some really impressive results from dipping though. Especially once you get a nice amount of lacquer over the top.

Any pointers on where we can get them dipped from? I have the silver trim and would like to give them the CF look. Believe the OEM would be tad more expensive.

Sorry I've not had any done myself, so I can't recommend anyone! Just seen a few bits at shows. :D

The wood and 'carbon look' trim in MK4 Golfs and Octavia's is pretty awful, but once you get it dipped it can look really tidy.

TBH I paid £250 for a complete set of carbon and should hopefully get £60 - £80 back selling my brushed aluminium ones. So probably not a great deal more than having it all flatted, dipped and clear coated.

£250 isn't bad, perhaps a full dip costs around the same I believe. May I ask where did you get yours from.

You got a pic of what your old trim was? I'm after the brushed Ali ones if that's what they are.

Sorted out my squeaky brake and painted my callipers so they at least look a little less awful...

I bought them off JamieOS in the forum Trading Post (thanks Jamie), always worth keeping an eye out on there. The prices most people want on eBay are ridiculous.

Sure here you go: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AjJB-bVzXGE9hNxr1_sGWfqrwuLflw

Let me know what you think. There's a few marks on some so they aren't mint.

Also my car is a 2005, so it came with the plastic ashtray and gear surround. This is whole reason I changed them!

It's worth noting that s/h brushed ashtrays and gear surrounds are unobtanium. I looked for 5 months, they were literally all wrecked, and Audi want £170 for new ones. I don't want to sell you the rest on the premise that you can just pick up the other two, because they are not easy to find!

Same as what I have then pal. I'm trying to find the full light aluminium brushed trim. Not easy trying to find a full set that isn't a rip off or trashed.

Yup, it's near impossible mate. I've been checking fleebay since January and not one decent set has come up.

I think half the trouble is they get scratched up so easily.

well the old bus has gone now, well for a couple of weeks that is and I have a nice new A4 2.0tdi avant to use in its place......now I've had a fair few different audi courtesy cars over the last 3 years and this will be the 3rd a4 avant but as nice as it is with enough technology to send a rocket to space , it's just lacking any real soul and excitement, yes it goes but it is all a bit predictable.....just feels very plain and same as all the other new cars around....boring really.
interior is nice in leather but seats are rubbish in comparison to my B7 ones and driving position is just not as good.....rear passengers get more foot space but at the cost of losing load space in the back...
I can live with it as a standin but cant wait to get my trusty old B7 back....a proper car with real driving pleasure...

Well that's both modified cars insured for another year....mine seems to get cheaper every year on the Audi with all modifications declared instead of going up.

Glad some bodies has gone down, mine has gone up £30 this year, who are you with carl.

Would you guys say my steering wheel is on straight? Took it off again just to make sure as sometimes it feels like it's pulling left when driving, so to drive straight I have to turn right ever so slightly. Not sure if it's the roads or just in my head as I've had the wheel off before. Should I go get the alignment done on my front wheels? (My car is fwd) or should I just get all 4 wheels done?

Just out of interest what are you guys paying and who/what with? I'm 27 with about 3 years no claims and it was £750 for a 1.9tdi 2001 b6 which is silly when my friends are paying less than that or similar prices for S3's and Type R's although admittedly I didn't really shop around just tried to barter with my current insurer which is Privilege.

If it's all sitting correctly probably best getting alignment, from what I recall the "hunters" alignment thing is best (and haters gonna hate but I think allot of Kwik Fit garages have them among others of course). This might sound daft but it might be best trying the car on a fair few road surfaces before going for alignment, I find my parents road has a really steep curve in the middle so I quite often think my steering/alignment is out of wack on it as well as other similar roads.

With the above link Jake and I'm paying just a little over £500 for both cars and the Mrs' car is £273 of that.

Got my a/c regassed today free of charge, how you may ask?
Well kwik-fit are doing a £49 aircon offer with a guarantee that it works or you pay nothing.
I put the car in to them and said it hasnt worked in the 3 years ive had it but just assumed it needed a regas and never got round to it.
Anyway leave the car with them for an hour, come back and the lad says hes really sorry but it hasnt worked and i should get an a/c specialist to look at it.
I tell him no worries, thank him for trying and leave.
5 mins down the road i noticed the climate control is on "econ"..... i wonder, switched "econ" off and BOOM ice cold air, it was like driving through a snow storm. Turns out the lad thought econ was aircon!
So im contemplating going back and being honest when i remember them telling me the rear camber or caster, cant remember which, were non adjustable after i payed for a hunter wheel alignment! (It was adjustable and has now been adjusted through another place)
So moral of the story, dont try and rip your customers off and they may be more honest!!

well i'm with LV and my old bus is costing me this year £341.00 which is actually £48.00 more than last year but I have just relised they are bumping it up for the windscreen repair and a claim for almost 4k when a stupid pratt crashed into me last may , of which they are still chasing him for the money..., so cant complain to much .
The B7 Quattro turbo 2.0tfsi special editions do appear from all my previous quotes over the last 3 years to be penalised quite heavily for some reason, maybe because they are such darn fast cars..lol....

Are all your mods declared rob? Ive got the same car as you, just the better version (saloon).........
I was honest when i got my custom exhaust fitted and they put my premium up £125 was £500 now £625!!
Next year i think it might slip my mind.... "honestly officer i assumed that was the standard exhaust as its the s line model"

yes I did mention the few " safety enhancements" I have fitted..lol ,and they were happy with the premium I was paying and felt no increase was required given the changes I had made, what really naffed me off more than anything was because I had auto glass do a resin fix to a small chip and I paid a few quids for it then they said it was a claim and my premium reflected that claim....what total cretins....if i'd been aware my premium was going to be effected that much I wouldn't have bothered with the resin fix, still to late to moan about it now...
Not sure about the saloon being the better option chap, avant's rule , Ok..lol

Ive got 2 large chips in my windscreen, luckily just outside of the zone that affects the mot so i left them as i was concerned they would up my premium.
2 years ago a lady pulled out and drove straight into the side of me by which time i had come to a stand, so was completely non fault. Car got repaired by her insurers and i kept my ncb.
Come the following year they tried to up my premium by £400 saying statisticaly i was more at risk even though it was a non fault accident.
Thats when i waved goodbye to admiral and started using hastings instead!
Joking asside i love my saloon but bought it when i was single in my mid 20s, im now rapidly approaching 30, bought a house and got a little one on the way and find myself thinking how much more practical the avant would be! If i hadnt done so much preventative maintanance and future proofing, i would look at trading it in for an avant but you never know what you are buying and knowing my luck i would be swapping a good well sorted car for a lemon.

Ive got the same car as you, just the better version (saloon).........

My stomach is hurting so much with all the laughing I've been doing.......some people are so delusional at times
