What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

I’ve been after one of them for a while. Just don’t want to part with a kidney! It’s crazy as every B6 was fitted with one from the factory and did not suffer with leaf debris in the drain holes…
B7 engineers…..lets save €10
I’ve had a couple of lucky escapes with water in the scuttle and just remembered to clear the holes before it flooded the cabin
You would think there was loads around on the seconds market but I guess the cars got scrapped and few saw the value in the part
Yeah, that move was.... stoooooopid! There is one on FB marketplace going for 40 quid with the battery cover for a RHD car. So if you want it, snap it up ASAP. It's not mine and I don't know the seller it just popped into the listing's today.
The battery cover i can get of eBay still for just about 10 pounds so the asking price of 40 pounds isn't half bad.

we're the last of a dying breed, I reckon.The best I could find, for the B7, is "With your AC on, your circuit pressure gets to somewhere between 8-12 bar normally with a high of 14", but obviously you've got a leak, I can't see where exactly from your photo, except the engine mount? The shrader valves can be the culprits sometimes and they are normally pennies to replace, the other common fail is the pressure switch, any fault/leak/low pressure, there and it will switch off the compressor for protection.
If you're getting heat whilst your A/C is on cold (the matrix is always 'on') then one or more of the flap motors are not funtioning correctly or dead, I had to replace the red one on the passenger right, as I had warm air the passenger side. It's worth doing a basic reset on them (mandatory after flap motor replacement anyway) via VCDS or OBDeleven too, as that may be all it takes.
I've been very lucky with mine: wasn't working when I got the car in '18; took it round the corner, regassed it and that worked with a rattly compressor for 4 years or so; when that finally died (after a regas) I had a new one installed, which was only about 250 quid; been perfect since (and silent) except for that flap motor, which was an easy fit and cheap eBay second hand, out of an RS4, I believe, no less.
Don't try and fill it yourself with those kits you can get - it's not proper r134a, they have propane in them, since they're not aloud to sell real r134a direct to the public any longer. The best way and to save money is have a garage completely evacuate it, fix the leak problem and take it back for the regas.

I was fortunate enough to get hold of new about a couple of years ago; plus the cover over the screenwasher/ powersteering reservoir too.

If you want the genuine bracket, to hold that one in place I think the only option is to find an original fitted car being broken and drill off the rivets holding the bracket. I wish some of these parts I’d ordered from Audi back in the day when they were only a couple of pounds…
I thought the shrader valve was higher up on the condenser? This looks like it is coming out the compressor and spraying the engine mount, maybe a pipe connected to the compressor. I’ll take it to the garage when I can and see if they can see on the ramp. It had a new compressor when the car was 4 years old but that is a few years ago now
that one is deffo a hard one to find... the car i went and grabbed it from was without it so someone already took it as the mount was still in the engine bay... well i'm saying it wrong the mount was still in the shell. but the cover was gone i asked for it same as the battery cover itself. thing was the car i saw up for sale completely with some MOT work needed to be done on FB for a while before it all of a sudden came closer to me and was being broken. But as i spoke to the man selling the parts he told me when he got it some rare parts where already taken including that specific cover.
They're inside the valves you charge from, left hand side pipes, facing engine - can often be ovelooked and a cause, especially on very slow leaks, obviously you have a major leak elsewhere. Without a clearer photo I can't tell where exactly but yes down there the compressor pipes could well be. If it's a leaking compressor it could well be goosed, if the pressure switch didn't shut it off. Yes I'd get a garage, with proper air con experience and equipment to look at it - not Kwik-S*it, obviously.
That all said the battery cover is on it's way today and it'll finish the scuttle panel cover up quite nicely. I might just recondition the panel so the new battery cover and the panel are matched colour wise.

I also looked at missing bonnet liner and the missing engine cover rubbers.... I ordered the engine cover rubbers so that'll sit completely secured soon, but i haven't found the bonnet liner yet. Well i'm saying it wrong, I'm looking for the bonnetliner with the mounting stuff as that isn't on my bonnet at all. It's either been removed by one of the previos owners because it was ripped, or never had it as the mounting holes are there but are clean like there never was anything in them...
anyway, I'm looking for a new bonnet liner with the mounting hardware... I'll find it eventually.

I bought an eBay engine cover to get a new Audi badge, when I took the badge off, I kept the rubbers just in case and threw away the old engine cover

Next new issue today, last year I replaced the washer pump as the original gave up with a genuine, but 2nd hand one I had lying around
I notice today, it’s taking about 20 seconds for the water to reach the jets each time I wash the screen, I can only assume somewhere either on the pump itself or inline there must be a check valve which is letting the water back flow, so each time I wash, I have to send the water all the way from the tank to the screen, hence the 20 second delay,
Guess I’m changing out the pump again?

The valve is on the pump on mine, so sounds like you'll have to get a replacement. The pumps can be replaced with cheap chinese copies, and they last long... also check if the rear actually sprays as the oem washer pipe likes to break in the bends.
The B6 suffered with the leaf debris issue too, killed the module under the passenger seat in my dad's B6. Fortunately it was under warranty at the time
Yeah, it doesn't really stop debris from getting in. It needs to be cleaned out on a regular basis. But it looks way better with it closed off.
Not my own car today, but the neighbours A5 b8.5 coupe... replace the NS front driveshaft... shouldn't take too long but hey you never know with cars. well it stopped raining so i'm out to try and get it done asap.
well sorted it out and would've been done earlier if i did't start at the wrong side... it was the OS that needed replacing... a well at least i noticed it just before i removed the driveshaft completely... just lost an hour putting it all back together and moving my tools and jack to the otherside. Anyway it's done and found the reason why his boot went... the OS driveshaft is missing 2 bolts on the inner cv joint... thus causing extra movement on the opposite side makin the boot rub against the hub... I pulled the part number for the bolts so he can go an order 2 new ones... once he has them i'll put them on. but at least he can pass the MOT now. Because it failed on the split CV boot. Also the reason why he bought a complete driveshaft was because i told him it's way faster and cheaper than just replacing the boot... he bought a new driveshaft completly assembled at 35 pounds, the boot costed 25 pounds with grease...
plus you don't have to deal with the dirty greasy job... win win in my book ( he actually agreed with me on that one) only annoying thing that happened one of the 4 bolts decided to drop onto the engine bay cover (the a5 has a metal under engine cover) took me a while to get it off put the bolt on the inner driveshaft and than put that under engine cover plate back...
spend a few hours doing it but i didn't use any powertools all was done by hand with the extra aid of a torque wrench to get those driveshaft bolts on properly.
Still waiting for my engine cover rubbers but once they show up it's a simple slide them in and pop it back on takes a few minutes.

I’ve dropped one to many things into the engine tray, I’ve got myself a telescopic car aerial with a magnet on the end to recover screws, it’s come in handy so many times now at home and working on the car.
That works just fine. I got one also, but with it being a metal undertray, the magnet just gets stuck to it, so you are fishing with the magnet getting stuck on the cover all the time... it was easier to drop the tray, but it had to come off completely as the bolt found its way on the opposite side of where it dropped.
Other than that, I wished the b7 had that undertray as it actually protects the bottom of the engine. And instead of those weird cheap plugs, it is actually bolted on.
His front is lowered, and the evidence of that plate doing its job is already on there. Some nice scrapes but still nice and flat. He's got a 2015 a5 2.0tdi convertible.

Has anyone heard from or seen Matt online or in person recently? He only lives around the corner from me… although not sure exactly which house, but I know he said he had not been well, but I’ve not seen him post for a couple of months,
I replaced all the old engine cover rubbers today, and it finally sits right without making extra noises when the engine is running.
Next up is the bonnet isolation... I found a seller on eBay that has it as a kit with the mounting hardware... I've put it in my favourites and will order it soon.
Kinda had it with buying carparts... but overall the car looks better than when I bought it.

So today the footrest was loose.... don't know how but somehow the little screw came off... So will go out in a moment and secure it again. I probably didn't titghten it and somehow it found it's way off after a year. I did wonder where the little screw came from that i found when hoovering the car. I know now.
Parted with a kidney for a new drivers window switch, without the a/c and after trying a genuine china special from Amazon which I did not like the feel of the click, so it went back and ordered in a genuine part from Audi, it’s surprising how they can still order in some parts for the B7, but not all? Unless the part was maybe also used on another model after So they can still get it? To fit that at the weekend.
That is exactly why some parts are still available at the dealers parts counter... they are used in several models of the VAG group... and don't forget that the Seat Exeo is a remodelled audi A4 convertible so some parts are still available because the seat Exeo is younger than the B7 audi A4 and some parts are just directly taken from the Audi/VW parts bin. Only the front and the rear are restyled, but the rest is all the same. to the point that for certain suspension bolts i just get them from the Seat/ Cupra dealer as they are right around the corner from me. They got the same delivery time as the Audi dealer that has now relocated to the opposite side of town from me.

Nope, it's still in the shed. I'll be taking it down to an exhaust specialist. I hope they can utilise most of it... been saving up for a while as I know they charge an arm and a leg... regardless of me supplying the hardware or not. If they can't figure it out with the oem boxes, then I'll have them make a bespoke one.
That said, bonnet insulation with kit has been ordered and will be delivered this week.
And the bonnet insulation just arrived with it's fitting hardware... all in all, it took me 10 minutes to clean the inside and put it on.
Looks so much nicer under the bonnet now.
Just need to finish getting the knob for the warning triangle... and then all the little things that were bugging me are sorted out.

Yes it fits like a glove and it comes with the mounting clips.
Anyone happen to know the cable route for the audio cables which run from the amplifier in the boot to the head unit.
Do they go from the boot, straight along the drivers side of the car door sill under the trim and then across under the steering wheel, or do they go across just in front of the rear seat and then down the centre gear stick tunnel to the radio?

- Standard Symphoy/Concert Systems: The wiring typically runs through the door grommets to connect to the front door speakers. Power for the rear amplifier and subwoofer is routed through the bulkhead (firewall) using the hood latch cable nipple on the driver’s side, or through a spare grommet near the battery in the trunk area, traveling under the side trim and beneath the rear seat to the trunk.
- Navigation/RNS-E Systems: The antenna cable runs from the shark fin on the roof all the way to the back of the radio unit. For wagons, this is located on the driver’s side behind the SiriusXM tuner, while sedans have it on the passenger side next to the rear window.

Just refinished my satin black oem 18 inch ronal s-line wheels in piano black...so they went from a satin finish to a shine looks way better now just have to wait a few hours for them to dry.
another thing i was looking at this morning is the brake calipers need either a new coat of red or a cleanup ... Wheels shine nicely, car has been washed and looks good, just for the calipers to stick out being dirty lmost orange looking and chipped (and in some spots covered in brake dust) .... just can't be ***** to remove the wheels to do it properly so i'll leave it for another day.
Well i just painted them since i had nothing to do and just went and bought a can of red paint and new brushes... painted the surface you can see through the wheels.... (when I have more time i'll take the wheels off and do it properly) but for looks it's spot on.
