Still not too shabby , i'd love to see more than 25mpg on an average day and 38mpg i'd be dancing around the house... :icon thumright:

25! Wow that is low - are you just blatting it everywhere!?

Even when pushing on, I normally get around 28-30

First job of the year done, Changed my fuel filter.
The old filter was the factory unit dated 10/05, replaced with the same OEM filter purchased off Ebay £22.99.
Removed the fuel pump fuse and run the car until it stops, about less than a minute, to reduce the pressure when removing the pipes.
Easy job really, only one issue a stud on the tank strap that holds the coverbroke off, it was totally corroded, cant understand why they used a metal nut as the others are plastic.
Any way a bit of the stud is still there, need to find a way of holding the cover that side.

Yep, had the exact same problem Richard, I think i opted to affix it with some heavy-duty cable ties in the end, been fine ever since.

its improved this week with the refitting of the OE cat but with the decat it did drink a bit more .

Plenty of ways to get a cable tie to work Richard, whichever is easiest for you. :thumbs up:

The adaptives turn as the car turns, low speed of course.
great for parking in unlit locations and when turning.

That's what I find really infuriating about Audi , spec varies so much.
I had a shed load of options fitted in my bus inc adaptive Xenons , RS4 RARB , all the interior pack stuff , trim etc, loads but they couldn't fit BT/RNS-E or cruise control...bonkers.
had Nigel fit cruise when he did my RS4 FBSW config, just a shame it wasn't fitted when new.

Headlight washer stalks bugged the hell out of me for months leading up to mot time ,one day near side worked ,offside didn’t next day vise versa ,then they’d both work.Never did get to the bottom of it but it passed so I’m trying keep the particular bee our my bonnet .it’ll be going to the same tester this year

Been there too James, well still am on the driver's side, sometimes it retracts as it should, other times it just won't go fully back flush without a gentle helping hand.
MOT has never been an issue with it over the last 18months as it does squirt when required, I know what it needs just not willing to pay audi prices for a new one at the moment.

Naughty little o ring that had lost its elasticity..stalk popped out ok but didn’t like retracting

Tried silicone grease but to no avail, the outward motion dislodged it and it wouldn’t go back without a shove

And yes they are fixed lens so no sideways movement possible, still so much better than non xenon offerings.

Sun was out again today so a good chance to whizz over the old bus with a pre-mot check .
Decided to get it done a few weeks earlier this year and got a test on Monday afternoon.
Spent a while checking all the obvious bits and all seems ok, well from my perspective, whether the tester agrees remains to be seen..lol
also had a go at tidying up my dinged nearside front OZ rim, well its better, I won't say it's ideal because it's not but I can live with it until I get a decision from the highways dept.
Hopefully, give it a shampoo and set tomorrow.

happy days

Yeh de-taring is underrated. I did some last week and finally got round to removing a ton of excessive lithium type white grease from the door hinges/sills which was driving me nuts.

Clean door jams make such a surprising difference

So the old bus has passed another Gov "health Check" this afternoon and without any advisories or glitches, happy days for another 12 months. :yahoo:

Wowcher that's a bit steep Rob, but hey on the upside you did get 1p off, but yes totally agree it's a bonkers situation and as much as everyone says it will go down , i can't see it going down any time soon .

Yep, show them you are not happy one bit , which you're not.

That's why I rarely take anything to a garage unless it's beyond my skill set. I just don't trust garages having been ripped off many years ago, I have learnt the hard way.
At least I know what has been done and how, and worse case if I made a messup up I can only blame myself..lol

Unhappy B7 here unfortunately…
Seem to have a big air leek on the IC pipe work. Have tracked it down to one of the joins and I’ve lost one of the clips that holds it together. Thinking about, I’ve stupidly not tightened them up for a long time.
Should be an easy fix but my new driveway is on a slope so I can’t get under the car quickly and easily now :sob:

Not a good day then Rob, hopefully an easy fix, it's surprising how smaller an opening you need to create a big air leak.
best of luck with it.

Very good and normally I’d have accepted, but it’s not always about the money.

It’s a bit like those old worn shoes we all have, a bit leaky sometimes and not as shinny as they used too be and well overdue to be replaced , but they are just so comfy and fit just right so why replace them with something new and it’s back to square one again.

A very small thing today, in fact it's probably the cheapest thing you can buy from Audi, but at last I think I have found a use for that small space - perhaps it was always meant to be and I just didn't know. Excuse the dust, interior cleaned tomorrow and I will be doing more significant things in the near future:friendly wink:

It's been a long time since i had this sort of economy from the old bus when just local non-motorway driving. :yahoo:

To be fair to the old bus, all things considered, it used to be ok consumption wise even after a few remaps.
Things went a bit tits up when I fitted the 034 HFC which did have a noticeable effect on consumption, it sort of calmed down when that came off only to take a dive again with the full decat downpipe.
now back with the OE cat it is a bit more user friendly on the fuel cost.
It was to be expected that fueling would go out of the windows with any kind of free-flowing cat or non-cat system, so self-inflicted really..lol

Even with the most recent remap, the low end has improved with the OE cat-back on but the midrange has dropped noticeably whereas with the full decat pipe on low end was lacking a bit but the midrange was excellent.

Until I have implemented a cunning plan to get a setup through the MOT within emissions the OE cat is staying on .
