would PAS failure lead to other warning lights coming on?

My power steering failed on Monday. Warning light in display appeared as expected. I have discovered a crack in housing for ECU on the electric motor on the rack. I think water has got in there and is causing the problem. Over the last few days I have driven the car several times on very short journeys. More warning lights have been coming on to the point where I now have the following on: EPC, ESP, ABS, AIRBAG, handbrake warning light flashing, oil light on, engine management light comes on and off, I have no rev counter or speedometer function and fuel gauge is moving up and down. I also have my alarm going off to the point of a drained battery and have had to remove fuses.
What I need to know is if it is possible for water contamination of steering rack ECU to lead to all these other issues?
Any insights would be much appreciated folks. I am puzzled and worried.

Thanks

Only real way is to change the steering rack ecu first as its obviously knackered and go from there, would not drive anywhere until you do mate, thats a lot of warning lights, may just be a very confused main computer getting conflicting info from the water ingress.

Had rack reconned 18 month ago so still under garuntee so will have them look at it. Hopefully sorting the rack out will sort things out.

Thanks bud.

Have checked the battery is up to scratch, especially if it is a few years old.

Battery is only 6 months old but I am taking it back under warranty tomorrow. A couple of my mates have also suggested this as a first step. Car is off the road because of this problem so hopefully it will be a straightforward fix. I will keep you posted.
I have found this little hole/crack on the casing for ecu on steering rack....think water may have got in and started all the lights show. What you think?

Looks like the pipe at the top has a big problem. Only way to find out if water has got in there is to open her up.

That is the anti-roll bar m8.
If new battery doesn't help I'm going to have the rack off and sent back down to bba-remans. It was reconditioned about 18 months ago and is still under warranty.
Hopefully it won't come to that but the picture looks bad...big gap on the left hand side that should be sealed tight and the small crack/hole that would not be seen when the plug is reconnected. Don't know if remans sent it back like that or if garage that done the rack removal have damaged it on refit somehow but it is definitely not right. I'm convinced that water has been able to get in there. Not even had a chance to dry out with all this crap weather.
Watch this space...I'll let you know what the outcome is.

Cheers.
