That's ridiculous, jees, why do we bother.

That's shocking to hear. Hope you hear something soon. I will sticky this thread and put it on our Facebook page for you to get more coverage

Cripes !! ... sorry to hear that, hope it gets found and they get who's responsible.

They should bring back Execution for Car Crime!
Once a few had been made an Example of, it would be virtually Eliminated!

Its just getting beyond a Joke now & becoming a Liability working hard for a nice Car! :-(

I am not sure why this reported stolen car has become a sticky and not the several other cars that have ben reported in the general threads recently. To be useful there should be one sticky for all stolen cars. And to be really useful there should be some pertinent information in the report so we can at least see if there is a common methodology to the crime so that we can all address our own security to meet the threat. It would be helpful to know geographical location, location of the car (drive, road outside house, car park etc.), approximate time, whether the key (and type) was used, aggravating circumstances (break-in/physical threats). Clearly it would not be possible to post too much as it might compromise police actions but at least some info would help rather than just eliciting a general sympathetic response, sorry for the OPs as we all are.

I agree with Hartwell

Stolen cars should be in the normal section as they are more visible in there, but whatever is decided should be the same for all ????

Actually Steeve I was proposing the other way round! (i.e. they should be a sticky). However I can see the merit of leaving them in the normal section so that a new theft is 'flagged up' for all to see. The advantage of a sticky, provided the theft is reported with useful information, is that the thread will become a data base with (possibly) a common theme to suggest the thieves preferred methodology. The main commonality at present seems to be theft using the owner's keys.

I'm OK with that, however I must admit although I viisit the site very regularly I rarely look at the stickies.

Perhaps leave them in the normal forum and then as they slide move them to a separate folder in the sticky section so they can be a valuable resource?
Just my opinion of course. :blow:

I am also on a photography forum and that has a sticky for stolen equipment. It works quite well there but the big difference is that once stolen, the kit is unlikely to be recovered. It's as much a register of serial numbers for potential buyers to be wary of.

Cars are different. Likely to have a false plate slapped on it fairly quickly and more likely to get some level of follow-up from the police to form a story of how the investigation unfolds. The story and commiseration posts would kill a sticky's purpose of scanning for registrations and patterns.

Just my 2p.

A fair point I think.

Not to up the mods workload, but maybe a locked but regularly updated sticky containing the info would be the best idea - allowing people to still create a thread as normal and have the usual conversation/commiserations go on without affecting the sticky.

How did the thieves steal it?

I swear someone gets an 8V stolen here every month.
