Hi I got bi xenon headlights into my Audi A3 which used to have halogens and once he finished they kept flickering and getting warning messages on my dash after he coded it with vag com, he eventually got it to sort of working by putting in a pair of load resistors on either side which stopped the flickering but i still get the warning message and sometimes when i turn the lights on fully only one side will turn on.
He said the board on my car simply doesnt accept the bi xenons because the board in my car is too basic because my car is 1.6 petrol
Can anyone please please help me to get it fixed, also he said i have to buy a new ecm? but i cant find any for sale anywhere.
please help,
thank you

Ok are these genuine audi headlights or aftermarket kits?

Whereabouts are you located as we can fix these issues, but you may need a module upgrade, but provide me some data 1st then we can go from there.

Thank you so much for replying, yes they are genuine Audi headlights I think they was removed off a S3, and I'm in Manchester but willing to travel anywhere if it means they will be fixed haha

What year?

PM me with all the car info & year, along with if its been upgraded front end or standard.

I'm new to audisport.net and have no idea how to pm sorry

Hi, thank you for your help, is this what I need?

Definitely not.

You didn't do your research before buying the lights, ie checking whether your BCM supports xenon shutter as @NHN has mentioned.

Bin the resistors, forget all the chinese ebay crap and go study wiring diagrams in elsawin, consult etka and install them correctly and find someone competent who doesn't take shortcuts to fit them for you.

I have no idea how to do any of what you said :/, the place I took it to which is supposed to be a specialist which only do xenons hasn't fixed it properly and keeps coming up with excuses now such as his work is right but it's my headlights bulb or ballast which isn't working, but I doubt that because the s3 which the headlights were took off used to work perfectly on it.
Also where can I buy the correct BCM, I have no idea what to look for or where from

The problem is the person who fitted them. They obviously don't have a clue. Anyone with the correct sense of mind wouldn't of fitted them without the correct parts being fitted along with the headlight retrofit. Do the job in one go, don't keep coming back to the same job as it doesn't look professional and by fobbing you off with resistors isn't professional and personally would've made me very angry if I got the car back with them fitted as they simply aren't needed on a OE setup.

Do you know anyone or anywhere that can fix this properly?
The other guy charged me £210 as well :(

Where abouts are you? I'd be going back to the outfit you used and asking for the lights to be removed and your money given back and allow someone more knowledgeable fit them correctly.

In Manchester, but willing to travel pretty much anywhere if it means that the lights will be fully fixed

I'm in Manchester, who done them for you? I may be able to help you with someone who can correct your faults.

I went to Bradford to a place called XenonBulbs on listerhills road if you've heard of them

Oh god. Yes I know who they are, there other name/eBay name is We-Sell-HID's/HID's R US. They are total Cowboys and have no clue what they are doing, I had a hid kit from them a while ago, my sidelights kept blowing and 1 headlight actually melted due to the cables being spiked by the hid kit, when I asked them to refund me they gave me a load of crap about it's not their kit blah blah blah, in the end it ended up costing me for a new headlight, that kit went in the bin and I put normal bulbs in.
Have a read here http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/hid-kit-blowing-sidelights.237993/
I would go back and get a refund, you have paid a lot of money for a bodge job.
