Hi!
have a 2007 1.6 six-speed manual. 100 000 km.

Noticed today some strange noises coming from what seems to be the drivers side of the car (Swedish user so that means left ;) ) Haven´t heard it before until i passed a wall with my window down today, metal clicking sound made me think of a faulty drive shaft but the sound seemed to disappear when i put gear in neutral and kept going down the hill, so i guess its not the shaft or a wheel bearing? Feels like a gearbox bearing or something ?

The clutch pedal has also been vibrating some lately when engaging on first gear in cold starts, maybe has something to do with this?

Any ideas what this can be?

Thanks
Marcus

Seems the noise is increasing when engine is warm and when im accelerating, also the noise slowly dissapears when i press the clutch standing still.

Mounted the wheel off, listening to the clatter. Its located to the gearbox. Dont know whats under the cap?

The mecanic guy says its the shaft bearing making noises. Common problem, he has repaired several of them... :grumpy:

Noise now gone. New clutch, new bearings and the six speed gear and bearing was also blown.

The car runs fine now

were they playing guess the part until the fault was eliminated ?

whatever, good to know its sorted.

No, not at all. He knew what bearing was faulty even without seeing the car, i explained to him over the phone. He had repaired several of these gearboxes before. The only special about mine was the worn out needle bearing and gear. The spare parts were "updated" to another kind. Strange that Audi did not know anything about faulty boxes or gears when i spoke to them...:gun2:

The clutch was changed since the box was already down, no bigger extra cost in the total.
