Hey I keep reading about the gel packs that will need to be replaced when a new windshield is installed so the auto-rain sensor can still function.

But what about an A3/S3 equipped with Active Lane Assist camera mounted in that area, is there a gel pack for that?

I have the Active Lane Assist camera on my A3 and I will be getting my windshield replaced soon (hopefully this week) with a OEM windshield the Safelite Auto window shop will be ordering from Audi.

Any thoughts?

A gel pad (32/33mm) is needed for the Rain, Light and Humidity Sensor for sure as I needed to use one when I retrofitted the unit to my car. As far as I am aware the High Beam assist unit is mounted inside the mirror housing plastic cover which has the needed holes in it to be able to see out of the windscreen, so a pad is not needed. I am not sure whats needed for the Lane Assist to be honest but any auto glass professional should carry pads as they are used on many different cars these days.

thanks, looks like I'll need a gel pad for the Rain, light sensor for sure. I took a closer look at my rear view mirror in my car today and noticed that that sensor is there right behind the mirror like everyone else's even though I never noticed until now because the Active Lane Assist camera is mounted right above it.

I'm a bit nervous about this whole process as I'm unsure if the rain sensor and active lane assist camera are glued to the windshield or tied to the rear view mirror mounted to the roof of the car.

I would normally say I'd feel safe about the Audi Indianapolis dealer working on it, but when I called them to qualify what my insurance was informing me about my need to take the car to the dealer for recalibration of the lane departure camera, the dealer was confused on what I was talking about. Thinking I was talking about the side-assist or the Active Cruise Control. I had the service desk girl go back to the service guys twice because she came back to me with wrong information they provided her letting me know they didn't know what Active Lane Assist was either.

In the end they told me that rarely would I need to bring car in for recalibration after the windshield is replaced because it rarely will need to be re-calibrated. They told me if I did it would be est. $350 to do the work. That was no concern to me as my insurer said they would vouch for that charge.

Looks like only the RLFS is stuck to the screen (gel pad). All else just needs a clear view out the window...
